I've been wanting t do digital art for a while. What programs did you use? I got nothing but Microsoft paint, so mine suck some serious booty

i use photoshop and a wacom bamboo. The babmoo ist the best wacom tablet, but its the only one I've ever used and I really dont mind except that its really hard to nake my own lineart on it. But then again its only $100 and it comes with photoshop elemnts 5 or higher, which in its self cost $100. u should really get one, its really easy once u get to know how photoshop works.

Just wondering, do you color with a tablet or mouse?
some advice to the coloring, you've colored really well but the consistency is a bit clashing, for instance: the primary light source is the moon and she has a highlight from it behind her, but there is also a bright light source in front of her where all the light is reflecting from, more powerful than the moons primary light; and since it is a full moon at night there wonβt be any stronger lights around. She also has a secondary light source from the buildings but it's not going to be as strong, so because both light sources are behind her a lot more shadowing would appear on her front side, or at least have fewer highlights there. Another tip I can think of is that because itβs night and thereβs blue light all around her sheβd be saturated with blue light, so shading her with a blue tint would make her look like sheβs in her environment, because as is it looks like sheβs in sunlight with a bright yellow light source casting on her; a simple fix for this is to color normally than use a blue tinting layer over hers with a blending option/transparency fixed so that she blends in with the surrounding, or color everything as if it were daytime and then apply it to the whole picture, course thatβs always tricky so good luck getting used to it.
All of that isn't to say itβs not good; it looks fantastic. Just don't forget that when shading, whenever you add highlight you more than likely will have to subtract light for a shadow somewhere else, since most things do that; like folding in cloth, youβll have a highlight and shadow in each fold, unless you have defused shadows from multiple light sources.
Sorry to ramble on about that, I donβt want to steal your steam, just things to keep in mind on your next coloring work, I think your colorings great, and you definitely have a lot of potential.

thanx, yea i mainly spent most of the time coloring the character and as for the backround and lighting, I just simply gave it about 10 mins since I wasnt really sure how to make night scene without making the look dull. I also took your word and tinted her skin with a lil blue so she doesnt look like shes in the sunlight.

But.... I do have a suggestion, but only if you are open to criticism.

The background, specifically the ground and the path etc. are too dark. the viewer cannot see alot of the line work Locke spent a decent amount of time on. But keep in mind i only noticed because I've seen the original. If i hadn't i wouldn't have even offered this little critique.
Aside from that it's fucking awesome. good job.
