Randorn's eyes widen in surprise as he sees a young Vixen on the forest floor before him. She could not have possibly wondered off on her own. He approached the wide-eyed, fearful girl and kneels on one knee."Please, do not be afraid." The girl couldn't help but to scoot away from him. Randorn can't blame her - they just met. Seeing the familiar bluish-hue on her fur, he can't help but wonder if she is a survivor of the Vixon tribe he just demolished last night. Randorn quickly crushed that thought and took a deep breath.
"My name is Randorn, and I am not an enemy." He looks over his shoulder and sees the girl's trail. "Did you wander in here all by yourself?" The little vixen carefully sat up and sat on her knees as she begins to wring her little fingers.
"Yes," the vixen quickly answered. Good, Randorn thought. At least he got a word out of her.
"Where did you come from?" Randorn asks.
"F-From the village over that way." The girl points to the direction behind him, past the tree that was her hiding spot. Randorn glances to the same direction. His suspicions are rising as he became cautious of asking the next question.
"Where are your parents?"
The girl's clear blue eyes went wide as she looked away from him. Her eyes shifted to him, looking as if shes on the verge of tears.
"At my village....I-I don't know now."
Randorn's heart sank painfully as his blood begins to boil with an emotion he cannot describe. No, this have to be a coincidence, he thought quickly.
"What do you mean?" The girl quickly wiped her tears and looked down to think.
"A scary man came to my village and attacked us with fire and flashing lights..." Randorn stares at her steadily as the quivering girl those very words, fighting her tears. "Papa w-woke me up and told me to run away and n-never look back. There was screaming...a lot of blood, and t-the flashing lights made it hard to see...b-but I got away..." The girl lost it and tears begins to stream from her eyes and lost control of her emotions.
"Why?...W-What kind of monster would do that?! Attacking innocent families a-and leaving everything to burn! Its terrible!"
Randorn stares at her numbly as he sees a child who is an orphan.....and he was held responsible. His mind immediately went back to the images that burned into his skull: the revengeful fire within him lashing out into a Vixon village that was responsible for his eldest son's death, letting everything burn around him as his lightning blindly strikes anyone that got in the way. Randorn can still feel the white-hot hatred for Vixon Tribe because all he thought about was his dead son, but his chest feels heavy with guilt because his son would not tolerate revenge. He did bury everyone with the honor of his tribe, but that was not enough to lift his guilt. What made the whole thing worse was the fact he never counted on any survivors...
"D-Did you see anyone alive?" Randorn snapped back into reality and look to her.
"Sorry?"
"I said did you see anyone alive? Before you found me, did you see anyone at the village. Papa is really strong, and I know he can survive anything. Maybe Mama, too."
The child's words of wistful hope made Randorn feel sick. He had to think quickly. She can't know that she is talking to her family's murderer, and he can still feel the blood on his hands. Randorn was never known to be a liar, but she can't know the whole truth. He have to lie...
"I was wandering here to find some magic roots and stumbled into a village. It became a blackened wasteland with a sad burial site..."
As soon as he said those words, the girl before him quivers as she cupped her hands over her mouth to hold her sobs. Quickly finding that futile, she pressed her hands over her eyes as she allow herself to heavily cry. Randorn will never forgive himself after this day. The only appropriate thing he can do is to stand and hold her close. The girl quickly clings onto his emerald-green tunic as she sobs on his chest.
"I-I don't WANT to be alone!" The child's voice can be heard through her sobs. "I-I...I want Papa and Mama!!"
Randorn holds the girl close and softly shushes her as he begins to lightly rock her to at least bring her comfort as if it would do any good. Sometimes, Randorn hates how life can be so ironic: how the Vixons of her village robbed the life of his eldest son, and, in turn, how he robbed a little girl of her entire family. Even though they killed his son, turning around and lash out against an entire village is not worth leaving a child lost and alone without her mother and father. No child deserves that kind of life, and yet he left his youngest son to be on his own. Randorn is then reminded of how he deserted Sabre, his youngest son. He just turned ten-years-old two weeks ago. Randorn felt really selfish to leave his child at the time he was needed the most, but he felt that he is no longer suitable to be Sabre's father. He looks down at the girl and thought how he should have done the same for Sabre when he found his brother is dead.
No longer can take the pain of agony, Randorn silently let tears roll out of his eyes as he looked to the heavens, thinking of the only words he can think of:
What have I done...

If anyone is interested, Randorn will be in my fanfiction. However, instead of accidentally killing everyone in the village Krystal came from like in Dinosaur Planet, he will be a wise, kind figure who acted as a mentor to Krystal when she wasnβt in school on Cerinia. Also, he will be changed from Sabreβs father to Sabreβs grandfather.

Very nice art and I've read basically all of the original plot by now so I understood this..
Btw, I know she's a vixton, but wasn't she originally a cat in DP?

Can't really feel sorry for Radorn. There was no proof that they were the tribe that actually did it (I know the Vixons, but it may not have been those exact ones). You could let him live or die in the story if I recall. Kinda obvious what I would pick.

I appreciate your opinion, but this is only a fan fiction.
Even though that the art and story was leaked, DP was never made, so I believe I can have my own opinion of how Randorn's past was speculated. This is only something for fun and something I wanted to do for sometime. If you have an opinion of how the Randorn's past was told, go for it, but I bet thousands of others have their opinions too, including me.
Besides, there's not much fan works of Randorn anyway. Someone has to do it eventually.

Of course! But based on what I read above, I was simply stating I wouldn't save him. I've made theories tying dp to sf, too. But I was just saying IF THE GAME WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE, I wouldn't have bothered saving him with a back story like that. It's sort of like getting raped while you were young, never knowing who it was, and then marrying that person. If you find out the TRUTH, you would kill that person (and that HAS happened irl).

Well it says even there that if she did find out, she WOULD kill him. So I assume while you may see him thinking into his pass, Krystal would never know herself.

Because quite simply, he murdered her whole family single-handedly.

Rival tribe and he blamed them for his son's death (The rival tribe did kill his son, but he had no proof it was that part of the tribe that did it though. They could have been peaceful ones but he killed and asked questions never).

The problem with that is most of the team that worked on it (plus other like conkers, banjo tooie, etc) had been long gone when nintendo transformed it into starfox adventures. That's another reason why they never finished as the team was falling out before they were even near completion and even more so why Starfox adventures was lacking too.
Nintendo grew impatient and said screw it, we'll put what you got, which is why we got box art with all the team there, but none of them helping (Krystal was to be saved by Fox halfway through and help him and even Slippy/Peppy was to come down).
There was going to be six spell stones too (much like the original DP, but they never even got that far in DP either, they just had plans for it, but no content made it that far) along with a lot of cut-scenes they never implemented, which included answering Krystal's past about her planet/family, etc. SO I hate nintendo and rare when it comes to that. Or more or less the lazy team that dragged around.
I have tied both games together flawlessly I think xd
Why can't we have both and no one get booted/killed off the either?

I always find that there was never enough of fanart for Randorn. In fact, I felt that Randorn and Krystal is one of finest examples of a relationship from a tragedy. I always fall in love with father/daughter relationships. Silent Hill 1 and 3 (Harry and Cheryl/Heather Mason), Taken, The Walking Dead game (Lee and Clementine), and a bunch of others I can't think of at this moment.
Rare did a wonderful job with DP cast's background stories. I hate to see them go to waste. Thank you mysterious circumstances that led one of us fans to find DP's secrets!
