Description

NEW VOTING INCENTIVE: PHOEBE IN SPACE!

So yeah, I came down with a wicked case of the flu, running a scarily high temperature and all that, so I didn’t get around to doing a voting incentive.  Once I got better, though, I dedicated the duration of two ‘Game Grumps’ episodes to the creation of this … er … masterpiece.  In HB pencil!  With glorious no color!

To be honest, on a labor-to-satisfaction level, I do think this picture kind of rocks.  Yay for cramming at the last minute!

Yikes!
You know what Heather, I'm sure Puck can find a pitchfork to complete the farmgirl look. And if you would just hold still for a second...

A lot of older sisters are kind of like this, I've heard.  I don't actually have one, so I can't say personally.

So how come Colin's family never met Puck pre-amnesia?, he asked, meticulously keeping an eye on the strip's continuity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElectricGecko In reply to The-Mirrorball-Man [2014-06-10 11:19:11 +0000 UTC]

Because (A) I think Colin avoids contact with his family at all costs, and (B) I think his family didn't care to meet the woman he was living in sin with until she had a kid.

This is lost if you're not from North America, but Colin's family is from Calgary, and Puck lives close to Toronto.  If you look on a map of Canada, you'll see it's sort of like if your inlaws lived in the Ukraine.  Maybe farther, I dunno.  It's a BIG distance, only doable by plane.  I don't think Colin's the type to have been pro-active on the whole family connection front either.

There are many ways to ... deal with problems like these.  Such extreme measures need not be taken.

I love how Colin's all like "I'm totally used to this by now and I remain unfazed."
Also, it's not very often we get a proper view of Puck's eyes. They're such a pretty shade of green. Nice job on the third panel.

I'm almost disappointed we didn't get to see Puck's quick wit and biting criticism at play here. I'd have loved to see those two ladies cat fight.

ElectricGecko In reply to BrightAbysmal [2014-06-10 03:00:15 +0000 UTC]

Oh, Puck and Colin's sister will spar a little ... later.  And yeah, Puck's eyes are usually colored some sort of highly unrealistic lime green, but none of the colors are very realistic in this comic.  I go for zing, not for realism.

Hey, I'm on that same page, but lots of women aren't.  For proof, just google 'freckles' and most of what you'll get is videos and how-tos telling women how to fade or eliminate their freckles.

Mind-Adrift In reply to ElectricGecko [2014-06-11 01:11:41 +0000 UTC]

WHAT?!
I refuse to buy foundations that will cover my freckles. And once had to reorder school pictures because they photodiode them out - the entire family was furious.

Freckles are the best

ElectricGecko In reply to Mind-Adrift [2014-06-11 12:36:05 +0000 UTC]

I'm in agreement, but it seems like TONS of women are not.  MY wife (who has lots of freckles) says that in many circles, freckles are viewed as overly 'rural' and uncultured.  They're seen as 'cute' but not elegant, and that's why many women want to be rid of them.  I think it's a shame.

ElectricGecko In reply to JARM13 [2014-06-10 01:56:28 +0000 UTC]

The alt-text on the primary site explains it.  Puck and Colin live in Hamilton.  In Canada, Hamilton is widely viewed as the trashiest, dirtiest, least desirable major city in the whole country.

ElectricGecko In reply to JARM13 [2014-06-10 21:45:53 +0000 UTC]

The funny thing with Hamilton is that it's actually quite a nice town.  Many of the steel mills are now shutting down, and the industrial funk is sort of passing.  But old perspectives die hard, just like Pittsburgh was the butt of jokes for decades even after it had totally pulled a 180 and rehabilitated itself.
