What I am wondering is how did Rainbow Dash get up into the tree in the first place.

Well I thought about it and came up with a class of roos idea. You have the thumpers that got really strong legs and body. Hoppers that light on their paws and can really move as well jump really high while able to land on their paw feet with no real harm to their landings. And finally the Mage, roos that use staffs or hand paws to cast magical aura from within extending it out.
Then you have the roos of all three types.
Also Spike's one is known as the sub race roos that enbody the dragon through, tough strong even flat teeth that can also fire proof to lava. They each wear a gem called the Dragon's Jewel that summon the magical flame within. Like Spike the Dragon's green flame to send letters to Princess Celestia.

Love the background and backstory for how the different Roos can act.
ANd then their is Pinkie Pie which does whatever Pinkie Pie wants.
