realy great shot, the little house makes a great extra point of interest.... and thats the difference between a good and a great landscape photo. There is also a great feeling of scale, the house is so small in comparison to everything around it, it almost looks unatural..

I'm not gonna crit the technical stuff, it's probably obvious and people always look at the technical and not the photo itself!

Great job!

that's indeed a very nice motiv

...but it has quite low contrast,
there are many ways to convert a photo
into b&w...if you ask me, the best way is:
(with ps)
1. check out channel looks best (to the right next to layers)
2. then mark rgb again, as it's been before
3. use channel mixer with your chosen colour
4. click "monochrome"
5. adjust the other source channels untill your are satisfied
6. use gradation curve if you want to enhance the contrast
7. how? check out this

i hope i could help a little...

Thanks, Lorant!

I appreciate your advice, but I don't have photoshop; only photoshop elements. It does not allow you to select the different channels. I may play around with the contrast in some other ways to see what I can do for the image. Thanks again!

What i like the most about this picture is the reflections of the mountains in the water, so clam and peaceful almost glass-like. The house also provides an interesting focal point as well. I was always a sucker for B&W's. Very unique composition and balance of visual as well. BRAVO!
