Description
I captured this one in December. It was the final day of about a week and a half of really mild weather for Edmonton. Near the end of the night, the wind started to pick up. The next day, the snow came and the brutal weather was here to stay. I'm lucky I got the shot when I did.I was happy with how the lighting turned out, and the gradient in the sky. Shutter speed was 4 seconds.

Edmonton's a nice city. Too bad those clouds intruded into your shot from the west.

Interesting shot! I've considered doing one from the same location (best area where you can get the entirety of downtown with some green space in there as well) Interesting note though, the photo was taken in 2005 and now in 2007 it's amazing how much the city has grown. (I can't even see Manulife Center in the shot, unless it's being blocked by the Telus building)

beauiful shot, I love the strong gradient of the sky, can't beleive it was only 4 seconds!
really cool city shot, the colours are bold and sharp... essential to a good long exposure!

This is fabulous, very nicely done... the exposure is just lovely, keeping the buildings nicely lit but not going overexposed The sky is also quite fabulous with a brilliant blue hue, excellent capture and I think I even see a plane dead centre in the frame just above the buildings
Very, very nice. I also like your composition... really great that you've left lots of sky

Oh my gosh! This makes me want to go back to Edmonton sooooo bad!!! I frikin looove Canada! (not that it's really all that much different temperature wise from AK) but I do miss Canada aaaa lot! But yeah, this is an amazing picture... and your right the sky's gradient is absolutely grand! Not to mention the fact that you can see stars... I could go on.....but I'm gonna stop because this is already a super long comment!

I love it. The gradient in the sky is perfect, and helps draw the eye into the city. Not an easy shot to pull off, and I appreciate you sharing it.

The buildings look much better in this one. The exposure is right on.
p.s. What font did you use for the "Edmonton" ?

I've spent a lot of time trying to find a good angle to shoot downtown from. Seems you beat me to it.

Heh, yeah I know what you mean! When I was searching for a spot, this one was calling my name. I found that it's tough to find a place where there aren't tree branches in your way. But keep looking, you'll have your luck too.
