Description
I’ve been trying to knock the light bulbs out the window
And the flower beds out the back door
But this time it’s like running with knives and honey pots
And meeting with the giant at the top of the hollyhock tree.
Unfortunately, desperation isn’t commended for
This obviously resulting in making amends for the slight obvious obsession
And the hurt in my hands doesn’t particurly care for the fact
That climbing up a stalk the size of man’s kind
Gives stitches worth of seams the size of buildings
So I take a strand of what it’s worth and send it on a paper aeroplane
I sent it one way or another
But still
They don’t leave messages on my answering machine anymore
~ I pressed the delete button ~
If this was just the ink
And this was just the pen
Then give me the C A N V A S
And I’ll plant another beanstalk
In exchange for three more years
And a sheet of skin
Tread the water
And put me on the windowsill
I’m still growing
But they left hours ago
Maybe this morning was just a mistake
And last year was just what the telly told you
I won’t stop but still
It doesn’t hurt to water the dying plants
