Snarling Amaterasu! The other rejected wolf Link designs for a tattoo commission a while ago that I decided to develop as a charm design. I'm not sure if I ever drew Amaterasu before this? I loved the game though, I need to play it again.

That game was awesome! I would really like to play it again for the first time. I really was like. "Okay, i get that 9 headed Dragon and am through with the game? That was rather short."

They had some other okami-games released, okami-den for example, but i didn't have the fitting console for that. Maybe i will dig that good old game out again. Though, it will never be like the first time. XD

Yes Okami-den is very good as well, but not nearly as long, which is understandable given the limits of the console. You can only play something for the first time once, but sometimes you could wipe your memory so you can enjoy it the first time again. xD

Hello there, and merry Critmas! I'm here to write a small critique on this piece. Let's begin.
Why, Amaterasu. If there was something I didn't expect to see, this is it. The realistic approach you chose to use really does justice to the character; for some reason, though, looking at this piece reminds me of Shiranui, rather than Ammy herself. Weren't for Issun being his usual bouncy self, I'd probably be fooled.
The flames are a nice detail to behold, partly because they seem to reflect the original, cel-shaded appearance they had in the games. They have some je ne sais quoi that makes Amaterasu stand out even more, as if they were realistic, while not being realistic at the same time.
An odd, yet very captivating effect. What about the wolf's fur? I'm mesmerized by how detailed it is; it almost seems like I could just feel its softness through the screen.
Finally, we have the background itself. While being simple, it is of the perfect color to make the protagonist almost emerge from the drawing.
The choice of putting your watermark out of the way, and making it blend with the background to avoid it being an eyesore reveals the care you put into this piece. Very appreciated.

When I saw this long critique I expected it to be negative, but I'm presently surprised. Thank you for taking the time to write down such in depth thoughts about this picture. It's really nice to hear what people think about my work. I'm not sure why they remind you of Shiranui more, perhaps it is the flames as Shiranui's seem to swirl around more then Amaterasu's? (Even though they are red instead of multicoloured). It is the only thing I can think of at least as other then markings I think they look the same.

Started replaying it from the beginning since I hadn't played it for a few years (On my first playthrough I got stuck on that stupid race with the talisman in Oni Island...! ) but then finally beat Oni Island and now I'm right at the gate for Kamui!

I know this is a very late reply, but it's definitely worth finishing this game! I really enjoyed the story from start to finish and the ending is moving. I need to play it though again.

I'm not sure if the HD port for the PS4 was released in the US; but I may as well look for it too when I have the income to spare.
I've heard one improvement in HD is that a lot of the colors are more concentrated than they are in the Wii version.

I love your more realistic approach to Shiranui aka Amaterasu. She looks gorgeous. I kept with the more traditional ink-painting style for my rendition myself, but honestly this could just as easily pass for a Miyazaki conceptual piece with the detail and beauty.

Thanks! Yeah I noticed that when I was drawing this that most Ammy pictures are cute and cuddly. I love those but it's nice to see another side of them as well.
