By choosing the title "The Enemy Within", it gives the viewer a whole new line of depth regarding the presentation of this piece.

The tiny, green atmospheric particles that lift up and are attracted to the blue-red nebulae does suggest that this "little demon" inside you does "magnetically" seduce you to do bad stuff every now and then. Very nice symbolism there.

Regarding the color choice, its all about point of view. The way I see it, you've clearly added a touch of unfamiliar to the familiar, and a touch of the familiar to the unfamiliar. The alien green imposed on the planet to give off a distant other-worldly feel to something every viewer is already accustomed with ; and the calm blue turns the already alien nebulae all the way into something that viewers feel belongs to our planetary system.

And as for the stars, i believe they are in perfect contrast and have achieved visual symmetry with the main subject of the artwork - the nebulae and emerging planet. They can't be too bright, because they would suggest that the planetary atmosphere (from our point of view) and the nebulae have ZERO molecular mass. Particles in space also form some sort of "space dust", i believe, and would then blur out or make a sort of "hazy" look to starlight passing through. Thumbs up for taking that into consideration, whether or not it was on purpose.

HOWEVER, it does feel as if not enough space was given to the entire piece. I believe it may well be the composition and overall placement. Artworks such as this demand epic proportions. Perhaps if the right side of the picture was not "sliced" off, it would provide a better illusion of the size of the nebulae, and at the same time ensure continuity and flow of the forms.

Keep up the good work e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)" />

Fist of all, thanks a lot for digging this piece and taking your time to crit...
VeRY, apreciated...
.

I feel motivated to take this piece a bit further,
i must agree that that crop on the right dosent fit (now that i read your crit), i though about doing something like a tale, hmmm, buy definitevly some spacing to let the nebulae breath....

love the way you interpret the Title....\Is probably about right....
As far as the stars i think look a bit to flat still,
But ,well, i will work on a few improvements base on your comments and Synaxs ones....
Thanks again.
Raul.

A very unusual color combination here, makes the scene very aleinesque. The dark green atmosphere on the planet sets a spooky mood, along with the brilliantly colored nebulae. The shape of the gaseous sky reminds me of almost a dragon/mystal creature, and the red pocket of dust is very enjoyable aswell!

That aside, there are a few parts in which I think could be improved, for visual sake. First the stars, I think they are a little too dull colored for the scene, everything stands out wonderfully, but when you look at the stars, it distracts from the uniformed color scheme. I'd suggest adding some blue/red/green color to them perhaps, to me, this would set the piece at a more balanced level e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)" />

This is very enjoyable to look at mate, keep at it and you will keep getting better. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/t/t… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Thumbs Up" />

"I feel like some source of great darkness within that ship" -(Cant Recall one who said at time)
Looking at it, it seems like a standard nebula, but then closing in on it you can see the red "energy" within it, like taking the form of a mysterious ship with a sinister Main Bow...

I really love space art. This is beautiful with a great deal of the unexpected and unknown hidden in it. If I might, I will take a lesson from this and try to use some flames as the basis for some space paintings of my own. You are a master!
