It was the day before Christmas in the town of Arkham Massachusetts. Johnny had just stepped outside to the unseasonably warm weather and shivered. For he came up from North Carolina to visit relatives and the cold weather bothered him to a degree. His cousin had already gone to work, leaving Johnny to his own devices. So Johnny walked up to downtown to the diner. Once inside he sat down and ordered a coffee. He could hear people talking about Christmas but what confused him was most of the talk centered on a tree outside of town near the local college. He got the attention of the waitress and asked in his politest tone. "Miss, could you please tell what all this talk about a tree is about?"

The waitress noticing he was from out town replied. "Then you're in for a treat. There's this huge pine tree outside of town near Miskatonic. And every year we decorate it and see..."she stopped in mid-sentence" Well, I won't spoil the surprise. Just come tonight and you'll see. This confused Johnny even more and he debated on trying to get more info about the tree. Sadly, all he could get was it was some tree decorating event. By the time his cousin had come home from work and had dinner Johnny was curious about tonight's events. "Hey Suzy, where's this tree everyone is talking about?" He asked his cousin while he was getting his coat on. He noticed that Suzy was just as quiet about it as the townsfolk. "It's near the college. Let's get going, we don't want to be late." Suzy answered cryptically.

By the time they had gotten to the tree if was fully decorated and lit up. What struck Johnny as odd as everyone was at least five hundred feet away from the tree. He could notice the excitement on the townsfolk's faces as midnight drew near. And then it happened...

An eldritch portal opened up above the tree. People were staring at awe at the portal except for Johnny who was wondering why people weren't panicking. And then he heard a slightly high pitched woman's voice echo. "On Zippo! On Sparky! On Frosty! On Greenie! On Blackie! On Goldie! On Silvery! On Coppery! On Bronzey! On Brassy! On I still can't remember what your name was!" As a red, then blue, white, green, black, gold, silver, copper, bronze, brass, and finally purple dragon pulling a large sleigh came out of the portal. Johnny stared in horror and awe as the dragons pulling the sleigh landed. He could see at least two young women driving the sleigh and could see them talking.

One of the women got out of the sleigh and towards the crowd. She was wearing a maids uniform with a short cloak and asked in a very polite tone. "Excuse me, is this Attleboro?" "No ma'am, this is Arkham. Are those your dragons?" Johnny asked.
The maid sighed and answered in the same polite tone. "It's a long story and sadly we don't have a lot of time."

She turned to the woman steering the sled and said. "We missed Attleboro again, Miss."

"Awww...why do we keep missing that town?"

"Perhaps if Miss would remember Gothenmere's name we would have this problem." The maid quipped pointing to the purple dragon.

And with that, she went back to the sleigh and grabbed a huge sack from out of it. Then she dumped the contents out and got back into the sleigh."Is that all of it Elenore?" Johnny heard the high pitched woman asked."Yes, Miss Margaret. That is all of it. Can we please go home now?" The maid known as Elenore answered. Margaret smiled as she pulled on the reins and the sleigh flew into the air and back into the portal. As the portal closed the townsfolk examined the gifts left behind and started distributing them. As the gifts were being passed out, Johnny stared up into the night sky and wondered if coming up to Arkham was a good idea.
