Description
Black and White version is here: [link]These are three 5-minute sketches of my original character for the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" universe, Karu ( [link] ).
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is © Michael DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, and Nickelodeon.
I wanted to draw her practicing a forward and backward hand spring to be used as fancy way of dodging in a fight.
I was suprisingly happy with the end result, and so I'm going to throw up a color version. With these being 5 minute no reference sketches, I thought I did pretty well on the poses. I drew them with a cheapo BiC stick pen (the kind that come 15~20 for $2) while sitting in a hallway at San Diego Comic Con 2007.
Color was done with a digital airbrushing tool on the black and white sketches.
The last one is another 5 minute sketch. The idea is that she's landing after one of the flips, and AirBending as she lands either to cushion a landing from a high place, or just doing a ripple effect of air to knock down attackers.

Nice, I think you've really got it down. ^^ (If that sounds like a pun, no pun intended..)

Thankees Hikari. I'm glad it looks good to an outside observer rather than just in my eyes!

Thankees! I'm so proud of my little Karu hopping all over like a spastic AirBending-Jack-Rabbit. XD
