I see this everywhere! Probably by people who are lazy or who don't know better.


Yes, it's nice to give credit. But...


What's the point of giving credit if it's not to the actual person who made the thing?


How'd you like it if you poured your time, energy, and soul into a piece of creative work - have it up on display somewhere - and the person displaying it says, "I dunno, it just appeared out of thin air!"?


So my advice would be...


- If it's an indie artist, please seek out their permission and give them a link. They are not big companies with squillions of dollars.

- If it's art made by a big company and there's no way to identify the artist... Meh. (It is illegal to use, but do you think they've got the resources to shut down every fan art/website?)

- If you know for certain that it's public domain art, then go nuts!
