I know.   Wonder why?
It works for me and makes it easier to schedule from work than if it was in summer.
Wonder if McCormick Place couldn't give a later date..  :/

Also, C2E2 was originally in March, so it's sort of going back to its roots.

Possible, it would not be the first time a convention was moved in time due to political conventions.

And to be candid, I am growing weary of the gigantic megacon idea. Don't get me wrong, there are fun spectacles. But they seem to be straying farther and farther away from their comic roots with the focus shifting to entertainment personalities and ever more fees to either see them (minor stars), or heaven forbid if they were to scribble their name on something.

Exactly.  I liked it better when I could comfortably walk through the CON and see all the artist rather than have to bumrush and blast people to the ceiling because they are standing their ground to see some actor that is there that I don't care about.   Hope they plan locations better than they did last year.

Not a chance. ReedPop conventions are quickly becoming the modern equivalent of the old Creation Con. There are currently allowing other dealers and artists in the show. but they are just one step away from requiring their own line of merchandise to be sold. 0 (I hear they even occasionally sell comics too).

I preferred it when the entertainment portion was it's own convention. Those did just fine on their own. It allowed a better focus on the shows. A fair chance to meet the person, just remember to bring extra dollars to pay that ticking meter for your 1 minute of time. And conventions actually had enough space that you could walk through and have a conversation that you could hear. (True we did have to fight off the occasional Woolly Mammoth or Saber toothed tiger, but you can't have everything)
