Redux of an older picture, I do realise in retrospect that I ought to have redrawn the whole thing properly, because Mars' pose is awkward, but I couldn't be bothered! Anyway, this time, it's got it's very own AU backstory!

Life in the roaring 20s is good, especially in the lap of luxury. Spending her nights partying, and sleeping all day, the flapper girl know as Crescent has never know adversity. All that changes the day she's beset upon by thugs from a shadowy organization only know as "The Dark Kingdom", who threatens not only her, but her family as well, unless she brings them the priceless gem known as "The Silver Crystal". Not fathoming what they're talking about at all (she's got so much jewellery, how can she keep up?), she runs away, but is luckily found, and saved, by a PI who's investigating "Dark Kingdom".

The PI, who's a lot less male than her outfit would make you believe, is known as Phoenix. She's been working as a PI for years (Such a shame we've already got a 'Mars Investigations'! ), taking over the business after her grandfather, who raised her. Her current case is finding the "Dark Kingdom" for her mysterious client only known as "V".

"V" has never showed in person, instead sending an assistance by the name of Arty, a goofy-looking and mild appearing young man with a huge crush on Phoenix's secretary, Kitty. Not having anywhere to go, Phoenix takes in Crescent and lets her stay with her, knowing that she might be the best, and perhaps only, lead to find the organization, and its illusive leader, Beryl.

V is in reality the very famous jazz-singer Venus, who's got a personal beef to settle with Beryl after she killed her mother, Selene. Arty finds it a bit weird that Venus dedicates so much time and money to try to avenge a woman who abandoned her as a baby, but Venus knows it's the only way she can find the truth about her mother, her family and even herself. The only thing she knows for sure is that Selene carried the famous "Silver Crystal" a gem so brilliant and perfect that if the owner was willing to sell it, would make her or him rich beyond imagination. Not willing to give up the diamond, Beryl murdered her, but was unable to retrieve the gem.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Selene had earlier hidden the crystal with her daughter, who was sleeping safely in bed, not even a bit aware of the events she would set in motions many years later.

DUN DUN DUN! I love me some AU! And yes, there's more to it, but I left parts of it vague intentionally. It would be a mystery-story, after all!
