Description This is the last sketchbook assignment for class one of AM! Next week is the last week of class one and we wont have any assignments for it, yay! I can finally play video games and draw without feeling bad, lol.

Anyway, we had to do a pose that communicates balance. I wanted to stay away from the typical gymnastics poses, but I obviously failed. Today must be a bad day for coming up with poses. I'll continue to think of one that doesn't involve Stu standing on one leg or one hand and if I come up with one, I'll replace this pose with it.

How about having him balance on the tip of his hand. I was going to say finger, but he doesn't really have those, does he? XD

nice pose idea.

watch for the almost-tangent between the left leg and the head. it's not too bad when you full view but on the preview image it looks like they're touching. also, you might want to vary the amount of flex between the two feet and left hand. the two feet look a little bit parallel and i think a little flex in the hand might add a little more dynamic.

the balance looks good!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. ^-^ It wasn't easy rearranging the legs and keeping them from moving off of the hip area, lol. I guess thats one of the bad things about 3d.

Nice pose and placing...

To get away from the typical poses u might consider thinking about the figure balancing on something like the couch or whatever and use that to come up with a pose before you try it on solid ground...

Yet i guess standing on one arm or leg really implies the balancing bit because all the rest of the body has to be balanced and its weight centered over a small spot where hand or foot touch the ground...

if you come up with a solution that balances the figure on nose or whatever you can think of other than hand or foot - i'd definitely be interested...

Ok i don't want to pretend i know too much about animation... I've only started this year and only 2 months ago on 3d... Anyways maybe some of my ramble makes sense...

have fun on your next assignment

Thanks schoggifroeschli! I hadn't thought of using a piece of furniture to stimulate some balance ideas, I'll give it a try! I dont think I can make Stu balance on the nose since he doesn't really have a face >_< but I'll keep trying to come up with new ideas. Np about having just started your animation education. We welcome crits from everyone! Let me know when you have some animation in your gallery, I'd love to see it! ^-^
