Painting 1 out of 5 for the first assignment in the Tonko House course over on Schoolism.com. We're supposed to be painting images with a neutral ambient lighting set up. I feel like I've learned things from doing this first piece, but lack the understanding to accurately put the ideas into words. I imagine this will solidify as I work on the other four images. One of the questions other students kept asking was how to get faster. The example the instructor used was amusing in that he said "say this painting took you an hour to do, working at comfortable pace.." while I'm over here like >_> "...this one image took over two days". Anyway, he said to time yourself working at a comfortable pace, and then on the next painting set a timer for that same amount of time, but minus 5 minutes. Continue to do this for each painting, subtracting 5 minutes as you go and you'll end up getting faster as the result.
