It appears the skin has been smoothed. Especially in the left down corner between the eye lid and the skin this looks the case.
However, the smoothing of the skin and the simple thin eyelashes give it something minimalistic so the eye and the colour make a bigger impact.
It blends well with the blue to the right, though I have my doubts about the brown colour just right between the two lashes at the side of the head.

Loving the color, but the shot looks almost out of focus when looking at the actual iris, which is strange because the eyelashes are pretty crisp. It almost looks like it's been edited- and I noticed you mentioned about that there was a contact lens that was visible? You might want to consider going back to fixing some areas that look a bit smudged. Just my advice is all, it's meant to be constructive. 8)

the contact was quite on the outsite of the eye since I was looking in a weird angle
my camera tends to focus on weird things, like only lashes but less on the iris
it's a bit hard to control without live view when you are shooting yourself

Oh, I understand it must be very hard to set up a shot. You did very well, don't worry, I was just pointing out things you could work on or keep in mind for the future. It's still a very lovely photograph. 8)
