Hmm...looking at my Sonic fanart folder, you'd think I really don't like Sonic's character or something...why do fan artist's like to beat up their favorite characters?
I don't know, but I do know Rotor needs more awesome. There's really not enough good art of him - my favorites gallery has one picture with Rotor in it, and it's the back of his head. The only reason Bunnie's even in this is that she's my favorite to draw. I also wasn't going to draw any obvious injuries, but I got carried while inking, so, yeah...
I wish I had scanned this in progress...I don't think I've drawn anything this challenging yet. I literally had to draw everything, Rotor's shoulder behind Sonic's head, all of Sonic's body, then draw everything else on top as though it was see-through, to get everything positioned right, then erase whatever's in back, some parts were redrawn so many times...like Sonic's ear...seriously, getting that right was just a fluke. I thought everything that needed to be erased was erased, but it looks like my scanner still detected some faint lines. So yeah, really happy with how this came out.

Frankly while I like Sonic, I also like the other characters, so I would like to see more of Rotor and Antione being awesome, as they are one of my fave duos just as Sonic and Tails, or Sal and Bunny are. ya know? Love your work on this, and the colored versions are impressive too!

Very nice work here. You get each character nicely on-model without making them seem stiff or too heavily referenced, and I very much like your detailing for Sonic's injuries (that little slit out of his ear is a particularly effective touch), Rotor's knees, etc. Background looks to be off to a good start too. Admittedly, I do find it odd how we've got Bunnie with her back to the audience; it makes sense, but visually it's a little odd. Nonetheless, I very much like this pic.
As for the "blood" vote? I say yes. Not so much as to be gratuitous, of course, but as much as is appropriate to the situation.

I agree that Bunnie does make the composition a little off. It's bugged me since before I inked it, but I decided to leave it since I felt the only other option was to completely redraw it. Although Bunnie was supposed to be next to Rotor, not behind him...not sure if that would have made a difference if I'd corrected that though.

I don't think so; it's the fact that we don't get Bunnie's face whereas we get Rotor's 'n' Sonic's that makes it feel off, at least to me; I think if you'd kept her pose more or less the same but had her looking anxiously back toward the others, it might've worked better. That's just me, though, and the pic still definitely works overall. ^_^

hmm...well it was originally going to be Sally in profile...maybe if I had kept Bunnie more in profile so you could actually see part of her face? I don't know. I think the fact that she's looking the opposite direction might be the problem since it directs your eyes to the side of the page rather than back to the rest of the picture.
But I'm still happy with it and I'm glad you like it too!

White-out, I suppose; since all that's really needed is a slight change to Bunnie's head, you honestly might be able to get away with it without it being too noticeable. Just a thought, though.

Actually, somewhere in the back of my mind, that may have in fact influenced this picture. It's the only story I can think of (or, at least, the first one that I always think of) where Sonic (or, as Mecha Sonic) is injured enough that someone's carrying him...and it's Rotor (well, Mecha Knuckles briefly, but I don't count that for anything). That was consciously where this general idea came from, although years ago, long before I actually drew it...I tend to sit on ideas for a long time before doing anything with them.

I actually bought a book on suffering in art a while ago. I thought maybe it would have some insightful ideas or explanations (that's how the description portrayed it), but no, it was more of a listing of famous artist's work depicting suffering, death, gruesomeness, etc. I don't think that's what the author was going for, I think he just failed. Maybe I should do more research into this...

I really do like Sonic the Hedgehog as a group, whatever the teams may be.
Individual moves, the group moves, the group succeeds, the group fails, the group is captured or escapes, the individual then turns the plot(this may or may not be Sonic)to save the group or himself or the situation, the individual or the group then defeats Robotnik.

Thanks, I've really been working on improving my inking. I'm still pretty inconsistent in my inking style (I have more for Halloween, so you'll see what I mean), but I'm getting there.
