I wish Mecha Madness actually was this emotionally involving. ;_;
I mean... don't get me wrong, I love that section of the comic. But Sonic was Roboticized and Knothole was burning to the ground. Somehow the writing didn't give proper weight to how... sad that particular part of the story was. But you did it justice, and for that I am thankful.

Yeah, the last time I read that story, I realized that it really was still in the more goofy style of the older comics, but Spaz's art made me like it more and take it more seriously than I probably would have otherwise.

I've got a few ideas myself, but I'm not sure how to write any of it up. Obviously, this would be part of Archie's Mecha Madness, and I'm thinking either Nicole managed to bring his consciousness back instead of deroboticizng after getting blown up, or he regained control on his own, since he seemed to still have some awareness when he recognized Tails and let him escape.

I never did like how they explained his deroboticization in the comic o@ I could see Nicole helping him get control back over himself, but... the dues ex, man, the dues ex...

I've done that in my head I don't know how many times now! I'm OK with the whole billionth ring's power being used to deroboticize him, but I'm not convinced Nicole could do it herself without some sort of amplification. I think I'm partial to the idea of Sonic's personality integrating with Mecha's programming, since I'm also not convinced that was truly Sonic who recognized Tails or talked to Sally and Rotor at the end.

That's an interesting point. Seeing as Sonic had no memory of what had happened while he was robo'd... you'd think he might have some kind of vague inkling at the very least, considering the struggle he was putting on against his programming.
Though when it comes to how the mind is handled during roboticization I definitely prefer SatAM's take. Being fully conscious and aware of everything that is. Basically going into a 'coma' like how Archie does it just doesn't sit with me...

I actually thought that Sonic was unique in not remembering what had happened...that Robotnik had tried some newer technology to control robians after Uncle Chuck was freed. I don't remember the details, if there were any beyond that.

Yeah, Robotnik did try something to prevent a robian's programming from being overrode, but Sonic not being conscious wasn't unique. Sally was temporarily roboticized in an earlier issue, with the intent of wearing a device that would let her keep her free will, but lost it during her capture and had no memory of the events that followed. That was what inspired the roboticizer's upgrade

Yes, I did, watercolor. Haven't moved beyond MS Paint in the digital art realm lol
The painting was a rushed job though, since I drew this months ago and just wanted to finish it.

I can only wonder how terrible Sonic must feel after he gained his free will just before he was deroboticized.
