How does her armor work? Magic, literally.The red gemstones on her pauldron, bracers, the piercing on her belly button including her red skirt are magically enchanted and are actually the ones protecting her. Its power comes from her mana which flows through the golden parts of her armor. The reason why she wears only a little of it is that so she can properly conserve mana throughout a long battle.
She's practically invulnerable to any kind of attacks, magic or physical, as long as she have mana reserves.
