Description
Not radiant, but powerful. Not praised, but known. Not a queen, but you rule the globe.
You are not just one, but many. Your job
is to give the world cover. We're amazed.
You were there when my hopes died, and you raised
them from the grave. You were there when my robe
was yet to be made. You helped me to probe
the world. I am scared, but you stand unfazed.
Mothers nurture the next generation,
and they deserve a better thanks than we
give them. Only one day? I disagree.
So Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I hope you
know how much I love you forever. Due
you is respect and my dedication.

Very nice, though I'm not sure I understand the title.

I was sitting in the dinning room in me house and wondering what to compare me Mom to for the sonnet. I looked outside and the idea came to me to compare her to grass.

Forgive me if I fail to see the comparison. Perhaps you could clarify it for me?

The first "verse" does that:
Not radiant, but powerful (grass isn't something that really "shines"). Not praised,
but known (no one really praises their grass like they do a rose). Not a queen, but you rule the globe (also mentioning again that people don't really think of grass as one of the most beautiful plants).
You are not just one, but many (grass is a vine). Your job
is to give the world cover (grass covers the ground). We're amazed.
Plus each of the qualities also applies to me mom n.n
She's a wonderful person but she isn't exactly a celebrity that everyone knows n.n
