Why doesn’t light flow gracefully through meNever did I stop the sun from rising
It always rose over the calm sea
I heard the bells from lofty towers ring
Before the sun came out your face gave light
The sun grew jealous of your divine power
And strolled across the sky with your might
You did not mind for you had a flower
And this flower did justice to your faith
Since your faith was in silence that gave love
In you there is the great calming breath
Never harshly do you give it a shove
As I hold this delightfully red rose
I realize that we need not fear our foes

Hayo... that's pretty deep, and beautiful in imagery. I see light everywhere...
I never know how to read rythmically in English, so I won't fuss with syllabes or what not. But for rhymes sake, I'd interchange the verses "...that gave love" and "...calming breath" to keep the ABAB ABAB CCE DDE scheme. Nothing that I really care, for I'm more of the open poetry kind(mostly cause I feel tormently fenced by petry laws and such).
Anyway, enoguh of me... a beautiful poem, indeed. Your boyfriend must have been flattered.(I'd be

You've done a fine job here, though. You've got solid imagery, the rhyme scheme and iambic pentameter are sound. He better appreciate the work you put into this!
