Waaah finnaly finished. I never thought it would take me so much time to complete this drawing TAT;;; I'll probably re-use some concept of this picture in the future, because even if I really like it, it's hard to see the initial idea...I hope you still like the result !

I don't think I'm qualified to do a critique or anything, but I really think this drawing has a lot of depth to it. As most people have probably already mentioned, it has the surrealist feeling of someone in a dream. I think I'd have to agree with the first critique I saw in that a couple of the deer look a little bit flat, but most of them are fine, and I like how they kind of compare to the "sheep counting" metaphor. I love the contrast between dawn and midnight shown here, with the red on one side and the dark blue with stars on the other. What I find interesting is that one gets the impression that the sun is coming from the bottom left corner and being reflected off the inside of the clouds on the right, but the focal point is not actually this proverbial sun, but a source of light right in the center. And, almost unnoticeable, the child or doll riding on the back of the whale-like creature. The girl, one of the obvious features, is holding a book, but does not appear to be reading it, lending a sense of wistful relaxation to the peace. The wings also blend a little into the background, though I can see both of them. The coattails appear to be a sort of... slanted, falling wing with the coloration, which I don't like. The bigger wing, however, doesn't appear big enough for the person to use to fly. I don't know if that in particular was done on purpose, but looking at it makes me kind of sad, because it makes her feel sort of incomplete, caught. My favorite part, however, would really have to be the whale itself. The pattern of the underbelly right at its head is in the fashion of a blue whale, so that's what I initially thought it was, but upon closer consideration it has two sets of wings, deer antlers, catfish-like whispers, a narwhal horn, a bird's tail, chinese cloud patterns on the lower half of its body, star-like dots on its back, and strange lumpy fins, that may be made of flowers. Not to mention the green-seaweed type tendrils trailing from the fins. It's a wonder of animal combinations, layer upon layer of subtly combined in a sort of fantastic dream. Have you ever watched fantasia 2000 by disney? cause this kind of reminded me of one segment where the blue whales can "fly" or that's what you think until they reach the top and you discover that the sky itself was a kind of "sea." In the same way, I felt this picture combined sky and sea imagery, making a creature graceful, vast, strong, and swift. Suffice to say, I loved it.
