Astrid had been having a very difficult year. She was not adjusting to Ireland as much as her father would have hoped, her and Balta were struggling in the show ring, and now she was trying to please her father with learning how to jump on his new mare.... which was not going well. She was at a loss with herself. Astrid felt so blocked up in her heart and trapped in her new home. She missed Denmark and their old stable so much. She missed her old friends...

As much as she tried to hide her feelings, her father picked up on them. In an effort to make her feel better he offered the idea of attending a lovely show where she could represent her home country and heritage. It would be wonderful to see old faces from their past and check out some of the wonderful nordic breeds they loved so much. Astrid was hesitant at first because her and Balta did not seem to be clicking but she eventually agreed.

Now that she was here she felt a lot better about participating. The environment was light and fun. Everyone was proud about their backgrounds and their horses. She followed her father and Jade around during the other classes and listened as he chatted with other competitors. He had always been a people person, a trait she did not acquire from him. She loved watching him though. He always lit up when he talked to others and he loved to learn about their mounts. He always lit up when he talked about her.

Today she would make him proud. Today she would put down her walls and have fun.
