Beautiful picture, I just love how you've chosen the background to work so well with the model's outfit. Great piece!

Thanks I painted over them in PS. But the eye texture is from the Venus set and they are really pretty. The lights weren't shining on them right though so they came out really dull in the original render.

I'm having the opposite problem with my Lux render. Too much shine and reflection. I'm trying one of their 'mesh' lights, and I love the lighting, but it wants to be mostly behind the camera and aimed at the subject... You can see it in my latest Lux render. It's getting better with time, but I may have to just redo the render in DAZ and copy them to the Lux render. [link] If you look at it full size you can see the light mesh in her eyes.

Yeah, I see it, but it doesn't look too bad, just a little bit too much blown out area in her eye. I guess it's supposed to take a little getting used to switching from Daz to the Lux rendering engine. I haven't gotten to try it yet, even a simple scene crashed my computer. I have to either get my new RAM or my new computer before I can try it.

Whip up on hubby and tell him to get the diagnostics. Then you can check it yourself.

If you do have a bad memory module, see if you have a Fry's Electronics or a CompUSA in town. You'll be able to get memory cheap there. And probably find some techy nerd who can explain how to change it. (They both have mother boards out on display. If someone doesn't volunteer, ask... If it's a laptop, take it with you. THe memory will be in one of the little cubby holes on the bottom. They probably won't charge you a cent, because it only takes a minute to change the modules out.

Micro Center is across the street. As soon as the ballet madness is over I will take it over there. Actually some of the techy geeks know my husband, I will see if I can get him to do it.

Yikes... Unless they've changed their stripes, Micro Center is really expensive.

We don't have one here in Jacksonville. (We only got running water and electricity two years ago, you know...)

Trust me, CompUSA would be a lot cheaper...

Really? Well I can check the CompUSA but Micro Center is usually cheap. Well cheaper is better. I don't even know where the CompUSA is but I think we have one.

The really cheap way is to get the diagnostics and run them yourselves. Then you know what's wrong.

If it is a memory module problem, it really, really isn't hard. On a desktop or laptop. In desktops, they're about 4 inches long, and 3/4 of an inch wide. In laptops they're about 2x2 roughly. They have plug-in connectors on one side, and they'll only plug in one way. Usually there is some kind of little contraption that holds them in place. You move them, and the module pops out. Push the new one in, and the little hold down arms normally drop back into place again. that's it. On laptops, the modules have connectors, and might have a bracket or arm holding them in place. Usually you lift one end and then pull and it comes right out. Reverse the process to put the new one in.

Just don't lose any of the tiny screws if it's a laptop. Make sure you've got good light, and I make it a point to put a white pillowcase under the laptop in case I drop a screw, or have to shake it out because it got away and crawled inside. LOL... Careful...there's nothing worse than a crawling screw.

Ok I got my new ram and upgraded it too and Lux still crashes on me, so I will have to contact support. But my computer runs like a dream. I haven't tried to render anything yet but I bet it will be sooo much easier and faster.

So it was a problem? Or did you just 'shotgun' the parts in. LOL...

Elle-Arden In reply to capn-gary [2011-06-06 15:17:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I think one of them was bad but it still doesn't help my Lux problem. It's actually a problem with C++, I've figured that much out. I haven't had a ton of time to try to get it worked out. It makes me want to take an ax to my computer.

capn-gary In reply to Elle-Arden [2011-06-06 16:38:01 +0000 UTC]

Now, now.

Perhaps you should reinstall DS3A and Reality. For what it's worth, I'm using the latest version of Lux, and it only hung once, and that was my fault, because I kept tinkering the factors around.

Don't use the axe on your computer. It's bad for the edge of the axe, and it might irritate the computer.

Elle-Arden In reply to capn-gary [2011-06-06 17:23:04 +0000 UTC]

LOL, I was thinking of reinstalling Lux first. Reality and Daz both run fine. It's when Lux tries to open a Reality scene that I get issues. It's the C++ thing that needs to get reinstalled and I think that came with Lux, maybe it came with Reality so I can try that. Otherwise I am out of ideas.

Go hunt down Mattymanx either here or on the Daz Forums.

I think he was one of the original beta testers for Reality/Lux. Certainly it was his picture of a Lotus that first got my serious attention, and that was long before anyone had even mentioned it!

Which software do you use for Linux?

Not Linux. I was talking about Lux Render. But I believe there is a Linux version of it. You can check at LuxRender.net...

I haven't tinkered with Linux in years, so I don't know what might be out there...
