That's exactly how I have it in my headcanon. Koopalot(My OC) was always very very mean and cruel to Bowser to the point he made Bowser fear him and he'd NEVER dare to challenge his father at all.

Definitely, the poor guy, and to know his father was a murderer, a child abuser, an EXTREMELY manipulative and a compulsive Liar....Bowser had to LIVE with that.
