Description
A poster for Jim Henson's hit feature, Labyrinth. I created the poster from scratch for a couple of David Bowie tribute screenings a local cinema was hosting - the poster was featured on display in the cinema itself in full size print, and made available for sale during the period with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.If you're interested in purchasing this poster as a print (anything up to B2 (5906 x 8350) paper size) contact me ~ samuelellmer@me.com

Lovely <3
I adore the brazen color changes- the brown hair, the green shirt, the amber eye makeup. Having himself in the crystal is such a fascinating idea: is he trapped within his own Labyrinth? is he on a journey of self-discovery? is he dreaming of himself? So many questions.
Perhaps the worm (a grand little detail!) knows the answer...

Well, you're obviously aware of Bowie's anisocoria? While in actuality his left eye is more of a moody black in colour, it's popularly coloured brown when exhibiting art of him. See his albums Pin Ups, Best of Bowie, Diamond Dogs, and Scary Monsters... Not to mention the official Labyrinth poster itself!

Anisocoria doesn't give a blue-eyed person a brown or black eye. It's still blue (blue-gray rather), just appears darker in some (not all) photos. It saddens me as a fan and as an artist to see so much work put into a lovely piece, obviously meant to express love and respect for the subject, that instead perpetuates a popular misconception.

Maq-Moon's answer is as good and as articulated as I could have wanted, but I'll summarise: artistic integrity.
If you're concerned about integrity, do keep in mind that at any point I'm sure if Bowie didn't want people making the misconception, he'd have spoken up about it.

While you're absolutely correct about anisocoria, the artist is correct in that the media (Bowie's own team, in fact) perpetuated the idea that his eyes were two different colors. You can see it most clearly on the "Best of Bowie" compilation album, where all of the photos are put together. They create a distinctly brown eye. It's all marketing; having two different colored eyes is very rare, and so creating the illusion added to David's mystique.
Don't be saddened by one detail! It's a beautiful piece that wasn't *meant* to further a common misconception. Like you said, they obviously created this out of love and put in a lot of work.
