nicely done!
it reminds me of a very dark/modern version of the seven swan brothers...they were transformed into swans by an evil sorceress, and to break the spell, the sister had to weave them all shirts made from stinging nettles, and if she spoke one word during this time, it was all for nothing.
It took her a few years, and during this time she was made a servant, but people thought she was weird in the head, and others thought she was a witch for doing what she was doing, and circumstances made it so that just as she was finishing up the last shirt for the youngest brother, they arrested her for being a witch, and they put her on a Pyre to be burned.
She called her brothers with her first spoken word, and they all flew to her, and she was able to throw the shirts over their heads, and they all transformed. All but the last brother... who transformed, but forever after had a wing in place of one arm--and became a hermit because he was uncomfortable among people...because he had a bit of the wild bird in him still.
So yeah.
