If you're using Win 7 it's as simple as right clicking your desktop and selecting personalise. Under that option you'll find a "change desktop icon" option. Simples!!!! ). If you're using anything else, I can't remember! What I do though is edit my shell32.dll files and replace the recycle bin icon with my own. If on a 64 bit pc there will be two of those to edit. Any problems pm me and I can edit your own shell32 files.
Hope that helps.

I love the bin, but it does not appear full when I put something in it. I have converted it to an ico, and it shows the empty bin fine. The full bin even shows in the menu to change the bin's appearance. Any suggestions?

Hi fantasybuff,
What system are you on?
What method did you use to change them?

Yea, that was one of my first ever icons. I'm now going for a more retro/steampunk look and the recycle bin just didn't fit in with it. Hence this.
