Description
This is a illustration I did a while ago where we can see Tusk, a lonely orc slave bonding and sharing a moment with another unfortunate soul.
This is part of a personal project that I like to share
Several years ago, I wanted to create a homebrew D&D campaign set in a desert full of ancient and mysterious ruins that took several elements and inspiration from other existing settings and IPs like The Legend of Zelda, Dark Sun or Pathfinder's Garund to name a few. (I also remember using loose bits of lore from a cheap version of DnD known as Resurgir del Dragon)
Sadly, the campaign didn't last very long, because I only directed like, six or seven sessions, before my players left due to schedule problems, controversies with ''that guy'' or simply because they were not convinced by said setting, this being too different compared to the more loved medieval european high fantasy.
Long story short, I was sad to see that so much work I put a lot of time and love was going to go to waste so quickly, so I decided to grab all the lore and info compiled and make a comic with it.
As I was writing said story, changes were made and several lighthearted elements of the original work were dissolving under the growing influence of Dark Sun as I learned more and more about said setting, since the bleak world of Athas and the themes of war, environmentalism and warped ambitions it presents are something that I would like to explore and work with. (Especially since WoTC doesn't seem like it's going to touch said setting again, even with a 10 foot pole)
I want to envision my own version of a world not ruined by monsters or curses, but by humanity itself, bent to the ambition and will of power hungry tyrants.
