If there was one thing Haze Shepard knew it would be that she had no idea of how to be a good mother. It wasn't like her own mother had been around when she grew up. Growing up in the streets and tunnels of London never taught anyone to be a good mother. She glanced over at the woman wobbling across the room, hands on her back, a weary expression on her face.

Ashley Williams, marine, spectre, woman, lover, wife. Not one without the other. The hot headed, knuckle cracking solider she had crossed paths with on Eden Prime. The woman she had changed the future for, the woman she had died for.

Haze swung her legs off the sofa standing up. "You need a hand?"
"I'm pregnant, I'm not handicapped." Ashley glared at her though her voice was soft, a playful grin tugging at her lips.
"Mm-hm," she muttered walking up Ashley.

Eden Prime lay cloaked in darkness, the silhouetted mountains only a faint reminder of their location in the background. Leaning in to Ashley she wrapped her arms around the pregnant woman. She drew a deep breath exhaling slowly.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Ashley murmured softly in her ear.
"Just tired," she lied.
"Mmm...you know what else you are?"
She shrugged in reply.
"A bad liar," Ashley said kissing her throat gently.
"I'm not. I'm an awesome liar," she retorted indignantly.
"Yes, when you're not lying to me."
Closing her eyes she inhaled the subtle scent of magnolia and sweet pea.
"What if I screw up."
"You? Screw up?" Ashley asked sounding amused.
"Hey! This is not like losing a planet or a ship. This is...a baby. OUR baby. I'm a solider, a spectre. I beat people up to teach them a lesson."
"Yes, somehow I don't think that is going to work with our child." Ashley teased.
"You're _not_ helping."
"Skipper." Ashley said taking a step away from her. "You saved the galaxy." Cupping Haze's face with her hands Ashley looked her in the eyes. "You saved _me_. You're not going to screw up. You're going to be the best mom in the whole galaxy. Besides me that is."
She chuckled giving her wife a quick kiss before kneeling in front of her stomach.
"You hear that, kiddo? Mummy is already making fun of me. She has a point though, she is going to be _great_, trust me."
