Description
General process using paintool sailineart: Make sure the lineart is clean enough so that when you put down the base colors there is little struggle. I generally start out with a rough sketch to get the basics down then do the lineart on top. Though you can simply start out with a fairly clean sketch then just erase all the unnecessary lines. I always just do what feels right for me at the time but you may prefer one technique or the other.
Flats:This is fairly straightforward but make sure that each item is on a different layer. Meaning the hair has it's own the layer,as does the skin and so on.On this particular piece that step didn't matter so much as there are not the many subjects but Id highly recommend doing this on larger pieces,it will save you from many heartaches.
Shadows:again, fairly straightforward. You can clip the shadow groupsto the base layers that you prepared before, making this step very easy to deal with.In this step I also fix in mistakes that I see. In this case I saw that neck was a little to wide and touched it up as well as a few other minor things. You can wait till the end stuff for this but I prefer editing things sooner rather than later but again, that is just me.
finishing touches:In this step I revise anything that I missed as well as color the line art by way of attaching a clipping mask and simply coloring over it.I also paint over any unnecessary lines ,especially in the hair. Then,I apply an overlay layer and set it to about 10-20%. Brightening anything that is needed as well as adding some color variety. You can also apply a multiply layer to darken anything that needs to be, well, darker .
If you have any questions feel free to ask. And if anyone would be interested in brush settings just let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for reading.

Well for starters its my walk through and I can do what I want. And as for the shading on the flats it was simply to make it easier on the eyes and it doesn't truly matter whether or not it has absolutely no shading.I was hoping people would get the point that I start out with very little shading at first. Also there are actually no highlight in the shadows, the darkness simply makes it look brighter than it is. Sorry if I sound annoyed its just a little weird for someone to be so nit picky towards something like this( to me anyway.)

consider my head bitten off I was coming at it from the perspective of someone trying to learn...because you were teaching right? sorry if I got under your skin. I wasn't trying to offend you. Your art is wonderful by the way.

I'm really sorry I came across that way. I just felt kinduve attacked for something that was so small? I also assumed you were just someone trying to find ANYTHING wrong(You know trollers and such). Knowing that you were someone just trying to learn is an understandable reason to bring that up but I guess if you could recognize those small errors means you probably already knew about them? But i suppose if others didnt itd be an issue that ill definitely fix next time around.Again i'm really sorry. Thank you.

I understand...and don't be sorry. I just taught a class with a buddy of mine at a public library on comic art, which is kind of funny because were both new at this (creating digital art). I've been drawing for years now and my buddy learned to color digitally within the last year or so. Were making a card game currently. We've gained a lot of local support in our small town which is why we were invited to come and teach. That's kind of the whole reason I said anything. Looking back on it though I could have said something more constructive. I wasn't thinking even though I was trying to be constructive. Sorry about that.

Oh wow im really happy for you and i hope everything works out well for you and your friend. (Digital art was hard to learn at forst but its gets easier)I think that all of this was just a big misunderstanding that ended helping us both learning something.thank you
