I wouldn't say I use dull colors, but I've always wanted to be more spontaneous with my colors, like adding blues or pinks and stuff like that to brown.
(lol, finding a "Style" that works best for you and that you're good at is so difficult)

You already Β have a good balance with it. Β Just keep practicing and look at art you like and try to see if you can figure out how they do it. And if you do want to use more spontaneous colors go for it! Try to push out of you color comfort zone and if Doesnt look good just try again. I don't know if I'm giving good advice (or even if you wanted advice...) but I hope it helps in someway.
(Also I think you're style will find you eventually so don"t worry about too much.
