Description An other study, based on a still from How to train your dragon 2 (it's in the trailer, so it's not a spoiler right XD). I kinda underestimated how long it would take (that, or I underestimated my desire to paint details <_<).

Either way, I made some mistakes in the shapes/proportions, but the colors where surprisingly close to the real thing. I used a few texture brushes in this one (speckles!), other than that; same rules as for the other studies: No color picking, a few layers (I tried to stick to 3), just eyeballing stuff and no 'magic tricks' . Just good practice.

By the way, I picked this image  because it was one of my favorite moments in the movie. Just seeing this guy in the theater was super awesome. Majestic is perhaps a better word. You can probably guess that I absolutely adored the movie . I had a few minor nitpicks with the story, but there was to much awesome going on to complain about any of that.

Also... can I have a dragon plz?

Excellent work! One thing of critique. It might be because of me seeing it in 3d, but I think there was more depth in there in terms of atmospheric effects. (could be me)

"Oh he likes you"

This movie made me cry... being as I was going
into it, expecting to do no such thing, it caught me
flatfooted.

I can relate. I can hardly watch any movie these days without tearing up though. media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8mjhr…

Thanks! It took a few hours to paint. I had planned to do it in one, but I got carried away as usual and took a bit longer. I don't know how long it took exactly, but I painted it within an evening.

My daughter would LOVE this! She loves those movies and actually cried when the good dragon was killed by the evil one. I'll have to show this to her when I get home.
