Finally got around to redesigning my baby. She actually looks like a pit bull now. Yay!Also completely retconning the universe she lives in. (It used to be this world that was dominated by dogs and it was really dumb. New story is much more simple)
Blake was a stock/bait dog for a dog fighting ring, which is why she's so scarred up. She had been bred to be a fighting dog but didn't have/never developed an aggressive personality. Eventually the ring got disbanded and the dogs that could be adopted out, were. Blake was one of them and her life is much better now. She's kind of an anxious mess though and is terrified of any dog larger than herself.

I don't know what breed I want to make her though. 'Spitz mix' is kinda lazy?? Not saying that all doggo oc's need to be a specific breed, but I just used it as an excuse for drawing her as a generic dog tbch

the freedom that comes with "mix" is nice but specifying which breeds really helps you out when looking at refs + I've find that it inspires me a lot in my writing
For example I had this OC that was just some kind of shepherd mix for a long time but I decided to change her into a greyhound. and that gave me the idea for her bg - as a racing hound!
The same goes for humans tbh I like assigning nationalities to my human characters because it just helps out sooo much in trying to figure out their identity, how they talk, how they behave, what they like. etc
People shouldn't skip those steps imo!
