Devils generally look like the work of Jim Henson's Creature Shop as overseen by Benoît Mandelbrot.
They are not wholly symmetrical, and tend to have an infinite number of manipulatory appendages.
(At the back of this one, the "furry tentacles" decrease in size and increase in number.)

Demons, on the other hand, look like the twisted spawn of M. C. Escher and Industrial Light & Magic.

Both are integral to the smooth running of a multiverse, but Devils are really the only ones with which you can have a conversation, or who will even recognise you as a living being.
