The Regency period brought us some remarkable styles in women's fashion. The novels of Jane Austen describe them vividly, and we may see them on the screen, in movies such as the adaptation of her Sense and Sensibility.
Men, such as myself, should admire them, especially. The lines of the dresses frame the face and the arms, quite remarkably, as well as accenting the bust. Of course, these fashions were strictly decorative, and could be very uncomfortable in cold weather so the clothes were accompanied by warmer undergarments.
We should also keep in mind that, in those days, all clothes were sewn by hand, without the benefit of sewing machines. All of the clothes were one of a kind, and unique.
Anyway, the Regency fashions are some of my all time favorites.
