So, yes, I am a furry, and I do not like having sex with animals or have sexual fantasies about animals. Yay.

I'm really tired of a lot of the backlash this fandom gets, so I made a stamp. For me, being a furry means being part of a community that is fun, creative, and artistic. On Thursdays a bunch of us meet up and play card games and have fun. We have conventions that are the most fun I've had in a long time. I am a fursuiter, and I feel so much more confident when I am in suit because no one can see my face, and I don't have to worry about people judging me. I was actually able to do a dance competition with my fiance because I had the confidence I don't have in everyday life when I wear my suit. This is what being a furry means to me.

But, like EVERY FANDOM there is a sexual side. First off, trust me. There are so few people who have sex in fursuits, because those things get damn hot really fast. And people who do, why is it your business? What people do in their bedroom is not really your business. It's no different than BDSM or roleplay. Just because it is not your thing, doesn't mean you get to shame people for doing it. It might be weird to you, but that doesn't give you the right to judge people. I more think people who have sex in suit are fucking crazy because they are going to die of heat stroke. But this is a kink, not a fetish.

NEXT. YIFF. There is porn in the fandom, LIKE EVERY OTHER FANDOM. Just because an artist draws yiff, doesn't mean they have a fetish either. I myself have drawn lesbian porn, but that doesn't mean I have a fetish. It means that I enjoy drawing women, and I am bi, and I like sex. Some people can only draw animals or anthro, like how I can only draw humans and how I struggle with animals. Some furries or the same. Or they want to draw whatever the fuck they want because they aren't hurting anyone. There is only a problem with this art is when it crosses over into the areas of bestiality, pedophilia, or general non consensual content. Porn art exists everywhere, it is not unique to the furs.

There are a lot of weirdos in the fandom that give furries a bad name. Furries are just like any fandom, and we all have that weird sexual part that the rest us really just want to separate ourselves from, like the actual fetish people, or the bestiality people. But think of it in terms of anime. People gather and spend hundreds of dollars on cosplay and pretend to be those characters, take pictures, and hang out with friends. They create OC's and write fanfic, and probably roleplay as well. But, there is such thing as anime porn, but despite the fact that there are some people who watch this, not all anime fans are labeled with a fetish. Furries are the same. We gather, wear/make certain things, create characters, and roleplay. But because we like animals, we are all labeled as a bunch of people with a fetish.

Being a furry isn't about sex, and there are a lot of bad people in the fandom who take over the google searches and make it difficult for us to have any good rep.
