Oh my goodness. I remember finding this picture several years ago now, before I was a DA member and just browsed as a guest, during my college days. I'd been wanting to see it again, and I finally found it again, so now I can fave it.
This is truly beautiful and poignant, and totally deserved the DD it got.

So beautiful, even in grief. I cannot help but notice the realism in this portrait. I love this. Thorin looks his most majestic as an uncle, not as king-to-be. His love for his family shines more than all the gold in Erebor.
