Here's a little Shantae drawing for my 1,000th deviation! Wow, I can't believe I've posted so many! I also noticed that I hit 3,000 watchers! I never expected anywhere near that number when I first joined, so I just want to thank everyone who has supported my art over the years! I really appreciate it, and I plan to do a something special (maybe a few requests?) to mark the accomplishment.

I really love the subtle blue lighting and although I haven't been following you for the longest (probably <5 months) your work is just incredibly mesmerizing and so im not even surprised that 3,000 have clicked or tapped on the watch button because I know I did as soon as I came across your page

I have been following you for a long time and I just really really want to get this off my chest because I get this from a lot of artist. This is just simple honest criticism that every artist gets. If any one else gets "butthurt" by my opinion well, thats too bad because its only an opinion. I'm not saying you HAVE to take what i'm saying as a "must do". Hey, do what you feel like doing. But I just gotta say it. Its been bothering me for a long time.
Let me remind you that I'm not some "specialist" in art. Trust me, this is something I'M trying to practice myself. But you know, I tend to trail off a bit XD
For a while, I noticed that you only draw JUST characters and thats literally it. Its very predictable what drawing to expect next. Now I'm not saying that drawing characters are bad but, I'm saying it seems like theres nothing outside of what you draw. Again, my advice: Have you ever considered one day, getting out of your comfort zone and trying out new things in art? Like Perspectives, practice with lighting, dynamic poses, playing around with of colors digital and traditional, attempting paints, maybe even landscapes? I don't want to turn this into a huge debate or anything. I don't mean to be really mean and brash. I'm just curious. Because I don't hate your art. Trust me, its awesome and your style is very unique and what makes you YOU. But I personally think that its just not interesting anymore in my eyes sense it consists of the same thing over and over.
*Sigh* Well, that was all I needed to say. I hope you and others don't take this as me being an ass hole or anything. (But if you do *shrugs* hey its only an opinion right? I can't beg people to agree with me.) I wanted to find the time to say this to you.

First off, you don't even follow me, so I don't know if you're just a troll or not. If you've already decided to unfollow, then what's the point of saying anything at all?
Second, I find it funny that you complain about character art when that seems to be most of what your own gallery consists of! I saw five drawings of Link on the first page alone! Maybe you should look at your own work first before you start criticizing random strangers about theirs. I don't know you, and you don't know me, so it's presumptuous for you to assume that I "JUST" draw characters. This is my profession, so a lot of characters and commissions of characters come with the territory (and also pay the bills). You have no idea what I want to draw or practice drawing in my spare time that I don't share online. I could get into details, but I don't really have to prove anything. I draw what I want to draw, and quite frankly, I'm not here to please you or anybody else. This is art that I choose to share for FREE, so if you're bored or unhappy with it, please do feel free to look elsewhere.

Okay, you obviously didn't slowly take the time to fully read my entire comment.
1. First off, I'm not a "troll" I'm actually one of your followers on PW as "tuliciaaah" like I mentioned on one of your older drawings. I have followed you on there for a long time than on DA.
2. I literally just said that I wasn't trying to offend you with your art. I was only giving you criticism. But apparently some one doesn't know how to take criticism.
3. I never insulted your art. And I also said that "I'm no specialist. I'M trying to practice myself." Oh and trust me, I'm aware of what I draw. I don't just draw characters. I have attempted on landscapes, paints, and even getting back into animating. You make it seem like me posting five link drawings is ALL of my art. When it isn't if you ACTUALLY look through my drawings.
5. I know you don't want to try to please me or anyone else. Me too. And I respect that about you. Whats more important is impressing yourself than others.
6. Scribbles, its not like I was using the bad language against YOU dude. I was simply saying that I didn't want to seem like some jerk. I apologize for using such words on your post.
7. I do get criticisms on my art but I learn not take it to heart. Now I understand if some says something like "your art is crap" without even explain why it is, then their just being a jerk.
8. No, I didn't know that you have other artworks than the ones you show online. Of course I would just assume thats all you do. You don't want to post your other works online. And you don't have to. Its all up to what you feel like posting.
9. And now that I know what I was meaning to try to say: not characters but, I mean you don't want to try to attempt another art style. Like maybe ONE DAY try something different with your characters. Small things. I'm not saying you have to try something new every day but at least a bit of your time to attempt something new that you wouldn't imagine yourself doing.
You know, its crazy when you admire a person for a long time. But once you give them criticism on art based on what you have learned, its the end of the world. It's like if I don't say "omg so good" or "WOW! fine details" then im the wrong one for speaking my opinion. You have to realize that theres nothing wrong with receiving criticism from people. I'm no different from anyone else here. I'm not perfect. But im starting to see how you really are. "You can go some where else if you don't like my art." Thats like saying "if you don't say my art is great, then leave." Well buddy, you just lost a follower on PW and DA. And I was actually still following you on DA. But seeing this nonsense made me un follow you.
Look, I'm sorry if I offended you in some way but, this is just me. I'm another artist that wants to give some minor points on some people's art when I see it. I was never meaning to start an argument with you. Just simple criticism. If you don't know how to take criticism from people, then thats definitely going to be a problem. Thats part of growing as an artist.

There's a difference between critiquing someone and flat-out saying you're tired of their work. It's like going to a landscape artist and saying, "I'm tired of your stuff. Draw portraits because that's what I want to see!" That's not to say I only stick to one thing (because I don't), but there's nothing wrong with someone having a particular thing they focus on and try to perfect. A lot of artists have a certain subject they devote their dA gallery to because that's what people following expect to see. That doesn't mean that they only do one thing, but there's usually a genre they do more than the rest. If you bothered to go only a few pages into my gallery, you would see backgrounds, multiple characters on a page, and even a little perspective work (The Red Death, for example). The Devastator Batman was also a lot different from my "normal" works. And I never even said Link is all you draw. I was just pointing out your hypocrisy when you complain about character art when that's what you draw yourself.
Actually, you weren't still following me on dA when I replied to you. You can tell when someone is watching you, and you weren't. By all means, though, continue to be a smart aleck. You know for a fact I didn't say "if you don't say my art is great then leave." I said (and you can easily scroll up and see for yourself), "if you're bored or unhappy with it, please do feel free to look elsewhere." I don't want to force you stick around if you don't want to, but I won't lose any sleep if you've decided you want to go.
