Aleu is my fave Balto 2 character and IΒ΄ve always wanted to see her in the Balto 1 style. Did my best, but the real animators of this movie are the best ^^. I also needed a little cut-and-paste-Photoshop practice and my brain needed to do something else than commissions for a while ^^. Commissions are fun but there is no Balto
. Yes: this is also supposed to be a screenshot. Background created partly by my Balto anime and my Heartlines pics.
And of course the cat has to be there ^^, cracks me up every time XD.

Here's something to think about, Balto stated that Aleu's mother was a pure bred Husky, and he was part wolf. But also during Balto 2, Boris statedΒ "Funny, but from where I stand, I see daughter, who looks even more wolf than father."
That got me thinking. How can she look more wolf than Balto. She's only a quarter wolf. Then it hit me. What if Jenna was half wolf, but due to her more dominate Husky gene, she showed to look more Husky, and was able to slip under the radar of being seen as wolf since, you know, it was the late 1920's to early 1930's. This would explain how Aleu was able to look more wolf than her own father. Now seeing as how Balto's mom was wolf, it seemed to give him more of the Wolf look, I think Jenna's mother being husky would have dictated her to look more like Husky then wolf.
But what do you think? Do you feel Jenna is also part wolf? Or do you think there is some other explanation as to why Aleu looks more wolf that Balto?

Well actually a child is rarely 50% mom and 50% dad and it is even more diverse in pups or kittens (or any mammal who is likely to have many cubs) . Aleus genes may very well be a lot from her grandmother (Aniu) and not so much Balto - that is why kids sometimes look more like a grandparent when they where young (from photos) and less like their parents - or they tent to look more like their dad or more like their mum.
They actually say "the one who is wolf but does not know" - it could simply be she got all the wolf-genes and her siblings are more like Jenna and her parents or even grandparents. So it could actually work. There are also more chimeras happening than we thought before meaning fetuses can fuse together in the very early stages of development- it is a natural thing and is most often a good thing- this accrues in humans too but we rarely notice at all- the only time we notice is when someone finds their twin inside their own body. Cats can have a litter where the kittens are half-siblings since they have different fathersΒ - also you can see chimera cats - those who look like two cats put together in their markings- and it is not far from the truth.
I think Aleu inherited her traits from either Baltos...(insert the endless debate of the white wolf here) mother or father or even his grandparents. It is actually possible even if Jenna is pure-breed back to the start of Huskies.
Very interesting topic - I actually never thought about it- i just been thinking they made it so it would be easy for kids to see how different Aleu is from her siblings. She is more wolf-like in her behaviors as well.
