This is one of my entries for the Pokebeach Dream it and Design it contest along with Kinvix ! Wish me luck. ^_^If you really like them, you can vote for them here ! It would help me out tons. This is probably the best I can do in Ken Sugimori style, at least for now. Im definitely not unsatisfied with the outcome, but I would like to practice more on the style later... getting it down just right is pretty tricky. I had a lot of fun making the designs for the contest and even if I don't place, it was a blast anyway and I learned a lot more about the style. :3 I cant even count the number of failed designs harmed in the making of these Pokemon in the course of a week and a half.

Species: Cunning Pokemon
Type: Fire/Psychic
Dex: Said to have the ability to tell one's fortune, they are considered lucky. The gem on it's head emits strong power.

I kind of wanted to do something different color-wise from Fennekin and Kinvix, so that it didn't look TOO similar to them... admittedly if I could go back and tweak it a little I would, but im not allowed to make any edits for the contest now that the deadline is over, and I don't have the motivation otherwise. That, and I no longer have the version with layers, so it would be much harder to edit.
If I did though, I would make the tail slightly lighter and make the shading more noticeable. I'd fix some of the shading in general because I made this on a computer I'm not used to, so the colors aren't exactly what I would have seen on my personal computer. For example, theres this weird spot on it's cheek im kicking myself for not seeing before. DX

Shiny scyther 's is the only one I think you would need to worry about and the final evolution of their Fennekin... just leaves a lot to be desired. Its to Steel looking. So yeah I'd have to agree yours seems like it just might win.
You know its weird, I love seeing fan art on the possible evolutions for the starters, but I don't wanna know the real deal till I get the game.

Right now its getting reaaallly close with 20/21. I think participating in the forum discussions more is helping me out a little with votes since I put an ad for my submission in my siggy. XP But, hey, I had a LOT less time to get votes so speeding up the process is doing some good. Thats pretty much what they want you to do anyway. I kinda wish this was voted differently, though. Right now, the way they have it set up is, whoever posts the quickest has more time to get votes, and therefore has the upper hand. This is especially a pain if someone already had starter evolutions and all they had to do was post them. It would have been better if there was a separate period for voting. xS
But, yeah, I know what you mean. The day the games come out, im staying off the internet for at least a week. XD I dont want to spoil any of the new unreleased pokemon, if any.

I haven't been surprised by Pokemon since gen 3. Though Torchic's evolutions weren't a happy one...

Haha yeah, its pretty close. I have the 21 though so thats good. But, hey, may the best artist win! There is also still the actual judging that takes place when the contest closes, so I have that to hope for as well.
I never cared for Torchics evolutions either, even Blaziken. I never really understood why I have so many friends that are obsessed with him. I am loving the Mega Blaziken, though.
