My first Deviation!I use the program GIMP to do everything, this took me over twenty hours. Im not very good with backgrounds, im trying to improve.
I used this as a reference for the wolf:

This is SO amazing! I thought you copied and pasted the wolf from a real photograph! The wolf looks SO real! Espeicaly the fur! OMG! Im gonna watch you now!

The number of watchers doesnt matter much to me :3 im glad people want to see my art, but mostly i just love drawing for myself and like to share it with other people.

I love the loose strokes and brushwork in this! The fur, especially is fantastic. I'd love to see how you work from the ground-up in getting everything to come together. I love the simplicity of the background, though I also feel it could use even more contrast/shadows in some places.

It's not even that your background isn't good - I think you did a lovely job! It's only in the contrast of the shadows that I really think it needs improvement.

Squee~! With GIMP? That's awesome! Have you heard of SAI? It's a cheap/(easily free) art programme I use in conjunction with GIMP pending what I'm working on. This is simply fantastic though, it looks like a photo! Keep working on those background skills, you've got some serious potential. <3

i have worked with gimp for a few years, and i still have alot to learn with it. i generally use only the basic tools and brushes- there is probablyu a quicker and easier way to do what i do, but im happy with what i can do. I have heard of (and downloaded a free trial)of SAI, but it would take me for ever to get used to a new program x3 i hope to get Photoshop CS5 someday. thank you so much

Wow this is great! Very realistic looking and very pretty. ^^ The one raised back leg looks slightly awkward but other than that this is fantastic. I'd love to see more.

You did fantastic from that reference. Oh and looking at the picture, the back leg looks a little funky there too so clearly it is just the way the picture was taken and not your lack of skill.
