Description
You know that episode where Red falls off into a crack created by a rift that's caused by Wembley's Whoopie water and how she's on a ledge that looks out into utter darkness. Well what if there were Fraggles down there in that dark abyss? It's completely dark in Fraggle Abyss, but I had to make it so that you could see the three Fraggles depicted here. The Fraggles in Fraggle Abyss lost thier sight generations ago. They do not know that they are blind because they do not know there is such a thing as sight.
DISCLAIMER Fraggle Rock is created by Jim Henson and owned by Henson Associates. Peter, Rings, and Eldro are fan based characters.

There was also the scifi story "The Valley pf the Blind" which knocked the old saying "In the land of the blinmd, the 1-eyed man is king" into a cocked hat.
The hero is regarded by them as a freak, a weirdo, because he talks about sight, colors, etc.Β

A story can be written based on this pic, BUT
Tho Taral Wayne came up with ideas, on a blind fraggle visiting or being brought to the upstairs community, somebody else would have to write the tale. I have lapsed from writing and/or cartooning years ago, and have gone on to other things.

I didn't know :TaralWayne: wrote about a blind fraggle. You'll have to point that story out to me.Β

YOU wrote down the idea in a pic of blind fraggles in the abyss. Goober fell into it in one episode and red had to lower a rope to enable him to get back out *. You then pondered what fraggles could live down there. Taral Wayne had ideas but I do not recall them being about blind fraggles. In the idea I had, the one who is a sculptor visits a famous sculptor (An OC by Taral Wayne), handles one against that sculptor's wishes - and discovers a WRONGNESS about this piece. Seems the sculptor is a psychopath fraggle who petrifies victims, turning them into stone. Justice will have to follow. Taral Wayne had this psychopath fraggle OC, but she never gets brought to justice.Β
* If I got names wrong, is due to the show never having been on regular TV. When I finally got cable, it was off the air. I was not familiar with it.Β

Ah. I see what you mean. I got a little confused there.Β
So the fraggle depicted in my picture meets up with a psychopath fraggleΒ
that Taral Wayne created.Β
That would be interesting.Β

Ah. I had always thought it was Red, but I guess I'm mistaken.Β

Red was actually the one who lowered Wembley down to him with a rope, and pulled them both back up.

The yellow fraggle appears to be a sculptor, using a trained touch to guide his(her) hands as they are making a statue. Echo-location can guide the Blind Ones so they don't bump into their statues and houses, etc. ...

The yellow one is Rings and yes, she is a sculptor. It's not known if they have echo-location or not.

Interesting concept. I wonder if the inhabitants of Fraggle Abyss would consider Fraggle Rock to be "Outer Space." In any event, they'd no doubt have their own unique perspective on the world. I wonder where that orange Fraggle got that stripey tie, though. Obviously, sightless people wouldn't make clothes for themselves that had colors or patterns. Eh, maybe it fell down to them.

Thank you. They might consider Fraggle Rock to be "Outer Space". They are vaguely aware of it's exsistance. As for the tie, it and other clothing sometimes things fall down to them from Fraggle Rock. Somewhere there up there there is a Fraggle wondeing where his tie went.

I think you explained the presense of a tie with color and design - Of course, the fraggles might be able to identify color by how different dyes feel. (just like the ink on a newspaper or book may be felt if the sense of touch is developed enough.)
Also if a person is totally deaf, TOTALLY, a highly trained sense of touch can sense the vibrations and enjoy the music that way. Yes, the Blind Ones can grasp the richness of life just as well as the ones in "Outer Space".

Heheh, that's cute. I like the how they're wondering what this light and colors are all about. Their eyes are cool looking for some reason.

This reminds me of deep sea fish. It's so dark down there they're blind too.

Late reply:
Many of the deep sea fish have light producing organs . One species of fish I saw was in a dark aquarium, and all I could see were their eyes. They gloed because of a colony of bacteria under the eyeball that glowed. I could not see the actual fish, just the GLOWING eyespots, and never had an idea of what shape they actually had. I even thohgght I could see the back of the tank BETWEEN the eyespots...

Aren't they though. Well I figured if I didn't do the eyes a certain way you wouldn't be able to tell that they were blind.
