ha ha hey yeah time flies this sculpture does seem to get around lol and you and theodoras help was a god send when setting up lol, i hope you got hard workers for your paint out too (if youve done your paint out already that is i forget whos in what yr now lol!) and iv been back many a time to the lboro studios since our hard work making that space nice to see a first yr had destroyed it with paint! lol, hope sum one told them they had to paint it back to white! he he!. I hope your work is all going great!! i get my best feedback on this site, its like having the tutors around again lol and also i highly reconmend degree art.com , they have been fab representing me all the bast cj x

yeah, i had one really amazing helper, the other kinda wandered off a lot.... he was tall though so great for painting the high bits! My works going ok ta! really weird not having to paint to deadlines etc anymore! but nice not having to back every single thing up with reasons why and tons of research

I love this website too - i used to go on it when i was a teenager but i decided to make a new account for my current stuff rather than just adding it on to my crappy old doodles How much to do pay to be subscribed?? its very tempting....do you think it's worth it?? xxxxxxx

Emerald-Magpie In reply to sarahunderwood [2010-11-13 11:23:52 +0000 UTC]

ha ha! yeah tall helpers are like gold dust sum times lol . yeah i kinda miss the deadlines, but i just replaced assessments with my own mad deadlines from gallerys and clients, which panics me more sumtimes lol. but yeah writing looodz justifying stuff about work over and over just for the sake got old v quick. esp when my work didnt change but had to write a whole new proj proposal, just word it diff :S mental!. I used to come on here yrs ago too but i use this as a second website almost and post up tonns of artwork and get great feedback, def worth paying for an account if you have got lots to upload. ^u^ and i get more comissions for work thru here sum times than my main website guess this gets a hella more traffic to it which is always good xxx

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Emerald-Magpie In reply to bluenova25 [2010-10-24 23:36:47 +0000 UTC]

its heat reactive and solidifies at room temperature its a smart plastic i have been sculptuing with for about 5 years now , i just get on with creating my ideas out of it so easily

bluenova25 In reply to Emerald-Magpie [2010-10-24 23:57:34 +0000 UTC]

OMGpdujifahpdwujqaghaf it took u 5YEARS to make that?!?!? jk but thats rly awesome, whats the material called
also 9ft?!?! how do u move that without breaking it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Emerald-Magpie In reply to bluenova25 [2010-10-25 00:01:55 +0000 UTC]

no, it only took about 6months? roughly. Iv just been experimenting and making all manor of shape and size sculptures with the plastic for that long . The material is caller polycaprolactone, also called polymorph or in america is known as friendly plastic. This is my largest sculpture out of the medium so far, but i aim to go bigger Its surprisingly very tough and sturdy, and light i just pick it up and carry it. (makes me look realy strong lol ) but yeah the sculptures also look pretty cool when someone brushes by them as all the tendrils sway and move

a smart plastic (polycaprolactone) it melts at 60 degrees and solidifies at room temp. it such strange and fun stuff to work with

I could not help but look at this for a couple of moments. It reminds me of something called Magic rocks. You drop them into water and they turn into sculptures all by themself.

This is wild looking but I really love.

It's a fascinating piece. It looks like a cross between an animal and a plant and a robot. Equally alive on land, in the water or floating.

Great sculpture, but the white halo around the edges of the photo really detracts from it. Makes the whole thing feel off-balance and cheap.
