Description
This portrait features one of my favorite musicians, the multi-talented Camui Gackt.I used a 0.5 Mechanical Pencil only, no smudgers or finger use to soften it - this left it more real & technically challenging too, though this scan is of really poor quality (gomen!) and the scanner cut literal inches off his shoulder & torso. The original drawing is 11.5 X 17 inches and much softer looking in the actual graphite...one day I might scan in a photograph of it so that you can see the whole thing with a truer quality. ^_^
Total time: 18.5 hours.

Oh wow, like the others beofre me, your technique is so refined that it's difficult to tell its done by pencil. Amazing.
You did an awesome job portraying the various textures, especially the hair. I can actually feel that it's soft and bouncy (is that the word for it? ). You can also feel the smooth solidity of his jewelry, which is sharply contrasted with the softness of the skin.
the only thing I would say is that the velvety texture of the t-shirt doesn't seem to suit the sleek/slenderness of the picture; I think it draws the attention away from his (rather beautiful ^^) face. Of course, this is only my personal opinion... so I apoligise if I'm offending you if it was intentional.
Otherwise than that, its stunning work. Those shadows tease the viewer, offering them some room to fantacise what is hidden.
Do you have a link for which I can see what you used as a reference?

No offense taken! I appreciate the input, most people don't look as much into the fine details so I don't get that much back on it (from a technical point of view, anyways...)
The shirt was actually a bit of a funny thing for me - you see, I drew this at school from a really poor doslab printout of the original photo.....so I drew, and drew, and I was so focused on the fine detail of it, that I even included "highlights" in the shirt that weren't even there. You know how in crappy printouts of B&W photos, you get those faded horizontal lines across the pic because the printer's so bad, and doesn't put out enough ink? Well, I was so into the drawing, I just included those too! Didn't occur to me until I finally looked at it as a whole and I was like....WTF?!?! So I filled in what I could, but some hint of it was just there to stay. As for the velverty texture, that was me being a little bit lazy, and also not having enough skill to do what was supposed to be. In the original, it was more like a very fine sort of weave, almost....I couldn't do it, so I improvised.
As to a link, sorry, I wish. It was a HUGE gallery, including pretty much EACH AND EVERY Gackt photo ever to be found. Heaven on a computer, basically. But it closed down for good a few years back and I haven't seen that pic again... Ah well, either way, thanks so much for the comment and the fav. Hope to hear from you again!

*laughs* That's quite funny. I know what you're talking about. Once you hit that 'groove' (I guess you can call it), its hard to really see the entire picture instead of focusing on the minute details. In the end, you were successful disguising the lines. I'm sure if wasn't for that, you would be able to capture the weave. *thumbs up*
Oh, its alright... I guess I'll stumble on it sometime or the other. He seems to be EXTREMELY popular ^^.
I'll be sure to look around when I have the time. Just looking at one piece of an artist's gallery is like seeing only one view of a sculpture... I'll be looking forward to any new art in the meantime!

I am speachless its fabulous!! 1. HE is sooooooooooo HOT!!!! ^^ *sigh*
2. YOu are amazingly talented if talent was something that could be stolen i would steal yours
3. critique is hard for me to say b/c of the whole scanner thing but overall the only complaint i have is a) i really wish i could see just a tad bit more of his eyes like a very little bit b) the wrinkles on his shirt could look more realistic like a little more differentiation in the shading
Well i hope it doesnt sound like im beimg to critical its just i like people to give me critique no matter if to me it seems wrong so anyway You should b every proud of this work! ^^

Hey, thanks for the DevWatch, Favs, comments AND critique!!! I greatly appreciate them all. ^_^ Very few people actually offer constructive critisicm these days, so I really like receiving some from time to time.
I'm not sure about letting you steal my talent (as it is... ), but please feel free to critique any of my works! His eyes, well, that's just the way they were, but I know what you mean about the shirt folds. I was stupid enough to draw this from a really crappy print-off of the origianal photo (not thinking to actually try make a good drawing of it), and it had lines through it cause the printer was so crappy....so in the end there were some 'highlights' in his shirt that I put in that weren't REALLY supposed to be there, and it just generally didn't quite turn out the way it should have.....my own error for not referencing back to the computer.
Though in fairness to myself the shirt actually looks a better and more realistic when you can see the entire thing, for some reason....I guess it all just flows better or something. That, and then you can actually see the other side of his torso (at which point he no longer looks stumpy but slender), plus the hand at his hip is completely visible as well.....I REALLY need to scan in a photo or something!!! XD
Either way, I ramble. So thank you!!
