Description
Inwien pulled Melody into a fuzzy hug as her eyes grew droopy and her little mouth opened in a wide yawn. Alec sat on the bed looking out the window, trying not to look tired.
"Alright, it's time for your nap," Inwien said as she gently set Melody on the pillow. She immediately snuggled up to it and closed her eyes. Alec, however, raised his head and straightened his legs.
"I'm not tired. I'm not a baby. I can skip naps." He nodded firmly, trying to hide the fact he was swallowing a yawn.
Inwien shook her head and wrapped him in her arms. He squirmed as she tightly squeezed him against her chest.
"No! Not the fuzz!" he exclaimed pathetically.
"I'm the fuzz monster!" Inwien buried her face into his neck, tickling him. Alec giggled uncontrollably as he tried to pry himself from her grasp.
"Hey," she pulled back her head to look at him, "I have a surprise for you."
Alec stopped squirming and looked at her suspiciously, "What is it?"
"It's very special, but you have to do one thing for me," she said, wiggling her eyebrows.
Alec chuckled, "Just one thing?"
"Just one thing."
"Okay, what is it?" he crossed his arms and squinted at her.
A grin spread across Inwien's face, "You have to take a nap."
Alec threw back his head and groaned, "Winnyyyyyy."
"Aleeeeeeec. That's the deal. Melody needs someone next to her and you're the big brother. Can you do that for me?" Inwien gave him wide, pleading eyes as he tapped his chin with his claw.
Alec glanced at Melody before relenting. "Okay. Fine. But the surprise better be good."
"I've made it worth your while." Inwien pulled back the blanket so he could slip under. She lifted it over both wynglings as Alec rolled over and yawned.
"Hey, Winny... where is Kia going?" he asked groggily.
Inwien frowned, "What?"
"I saw Kia walking outside the window... she didn't... have her... jacket..." Alec slowly drifted off to sleep, just barely finishing his sentence.
Inwien tucked in the blanket and went over to the window. Peering over the blinding snow, she could just see a figure disappear down the path. It was cold outside and Kia had just gotten over being sick. What was she doing?
Inwien recalled the voices she had heard outside before naptime. Dekeshi should have napped as well, but she heard them with Traumer. Thinking back, the voices didn't sound all that positive. Did something happen?
Something was always happening. Inwien always seemed to be on the sidelines - watching. When it got too much she would try to help in any way she could. As the big sister, she wanted to be the support among all her siblings. She never chose sides and she never butted in. She... she just watched.
So many times Inwien thought about what she believed. What did she believe? The problem was she never really knew. All she did was watch.
Inwien watched as her family went through personal struggles. Inner struggles, relationship struggles, physical struggles - they had gone through it all. But what about her? She didn't have any struggles of her own.
It didn't occur to her until she realized that when she looked around her, she saw scars on everyone but herself. Of course she was affected by others in the family - especially Kia. But eventually she began to feel bad that she was the one with no problems. Why her? Why is she free of this while everyone else has to deal with so much pain? Pain that she takes on second-hand because she has none.
Recently the guilt started taking root. Was it because she was the oldest? Was she the goody-two-shoes who got everything and breezed through adolescence into adulthood? Or was Chii'falla playing some sort of dirty trick? Had she been cursed to just watch - watch as everyone around her dissolved into chaos while Inwien stood by? She didn't know how to help them. She had no experience to. She couldn't really feel what they felt. She tried.
But then again, she shouldn't take it for granted. Inwien didn't want to have depression. She didn't want to constantly question who she is. She was... she was normal. But what's normal? Around here, she was the odd one out.
Inwien sighed and walked out of the room, softly shutting the door behind her.
"Mama?" she asked, surprised to see Traumer walking out of the closet. She turned around holding Dekeshi. Their eyes were puffy, but they had a smile on their face.
"Everything okay?"
Traumer smiled, "We're just going to check in on Mocha."
"Oh!" Inwien paused, listening to a faint sound from Mocha's room, "That's good..." her voice trailed off into thought.
"Winny, are you okay?" Traumer gave her that worried mom look where you try your best to hide your feelings but she can tell there's something wrong anyway. Inwien didn't get that look often. Did that make her happy or did it frighten her? She didn't know.
She let her mouth hang open for a moment in indecision. "Um... yeah... I'm okay," she nodded, "I'm always okay... always."

Is Winny actually okay? nO ON EIS SURE RIGHT NOW. This came to mind for her after having similar feelings about how I'm completely neurotypical while most of my friends deal with some kind of trouble with anxiety, depression, or other things. I try to help but I never know how when I've never experienced it. It's even hard for me to imagine it.
But I guess it's a good thing because it's actually giving Inwien character development HOW ABOUT THAT. Considering how much my characters in writing go through torture sessions on a daily basis, my internet children are so chill. What is this. I don't know. So it's time for a change. PLOT. Well... okay not really plot because I'm just mumbling abot her emotions right now, BUT-

tl;dr I got this far but have no idea what i'm doing.
