Lots and lots of texture and colour~~
The colour blue is a very good background layer, it creates a nice harmony with the little bit of green paint

The painting isn't just abstract, it is postmodernism, which is a different genre and more difficult to achieve a powerful result. But you never thin about such things, do you?

I googled about "postmodernism painting" images, and I couldn't grasp clear definition of these things...but there were great paintings in the page.

I always stroke/draw until the point that is "I can't insight next stroke/draw anymore" That point is the finish of the piece for me.

I also googled postmodernist paintings and didn't see any real postmodernism.

Perhaps the best definition is to compare it to modernism. With modernist paintings, although they may be abstract, there is usually a logic and order. Postmodernist art is chaotic, without logic and order.

A good example of a postmodern artist is Manuel Felguerez.Β

Oh good, I'm glad you follwed the link. I saw an exhibition of his work and it is really impressive...and impossible to interpret. He was part of a movement called "The Rupture", artists who rebelled against the mural art of Suquieros, Ororzco and Rivera to create a more interpretive and less representational style.Β

I googled mural art in Mexico also.Β  I found Felguerez's art is very different from the mural art, but both of them are quite informative I think.

By the way, I thinkΒ  felguerez's art is precise even though it belongs to "The Rupture" .

I agree. There is no other painter quite like him. BTW, some of his paintings are huge, like 2 meters x 3 meters.Β

2 meters x 3 meters would be about 10 times bigger than my on paper pieces! mine is 21x30cm.

Same here! I would like to do big paintings, but my space is too small.

My space is small too. Seems like we are wise enough not to do that big size painting in our space

If you could, would you paint big? Is there one of your creations that you could imagine as a giant painting? Trying to wake the dinosaurs, maybe?

EmiDrawing In reply to aztlanwayne [2019-10-08 09:58:19 +0000 UTC]

I would paint big if the piece would be needed. unless need, it would be an oversized garbage, so I wouldn't.

And no, there isn't my creations that I imagine as that big size. They are good in their size.

If I make giant paint, I would forget my creations and make the giant with no preconception.

The first artist I knew personally was a retired woman who took art lessons, bought hundreds of dollars of paint and huge canvases, and produced dozens of absolutely horrible paintings. I remember they were everywhere in her house, behind furniture, in the garage, in closets, etc. It was then I decided I would paint small using the most inexpensive materials possible. I didn't want to be like that woman!
