Description
I do NOT own this in any way, the original story and art isesepibe.deviantart.com/ / silbird.deviantart.com/ 'soriginal, I'm just reuploading for grammar and sort of a refresher purposes.
WARNING! LOOOOONG FANFIC APROACHING!
YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Three figures came through the door.
It was Dr Fuji, along with a couple of scientists I couldn't identify.
They had some sort of radiation suit. One of them was carrying a tank of some sort, with a tube on the top.
"What are you doing here!?" he asked.
I looked at them all, ready for anything that could happen.
I'll never forget any of the words emitted in that room that night.
"You asked me personally if you could stay out of any procedure related to N°9.Brian! What’s going on? Why did you enter here?" Fuji asked
"I’m here to stay to her side, in her last moments." I replied."She needs me" I replied
"What are you talking about? We have explicit orders to keep her alive while we work on number 10! She’s not going anywhere" he barked.
"NO! Look at her! She can’t have a normal life like this. Please let her be! Let her die in peace.
I want to stay by her side when this happens" I stated.
"Dr Muntz, that’s enough! I granted you permission to stay along N°9 because she needed someone to watch over her, and to endure our experiments, but this has gone too far! You're not thinking like a professional anymore!
You took this project to a personal level, and you knew the consequences this could cause to you as a person, and as a scientist. Look at you now!" he said in disappointment.
"What do you even know about 9!?" I began.
"That she's an experiment, A Project and our job. That's all I need to know and consider as a professional." He answered.
That comment alone made me explode.
"SHES NOT...A FREAKIN...EXPERIMENT,! SHE’S A LIVING CREATURE, WITH EMOTIONS, HUMAN EMOTIONS!" I burst out I anger
I stared them all down, bursting in tears, but completely enraged.
"YOU WERENT THERE WHEN SHE NEEDED SOMEONE TO LISTEN!, I'VE FOUND HER MORE THAN ONCE IN HER TUBE CRYING ALONE, FILLED WITH DOUBTS! HUMAN DOUBTS, DR FUJI! ABOUT LIFE, THE MEANING OF IT, AND IF THERE WERE OTHERS LIKE HER! SHE...FELT...ALONE!!" I continued.
N°9 grasped my shirt stronger than before, and tears were rolling all the way down her face.
"None of you where there, only me," I made clear.
"So what If I lost my scientific approach for her? I’m sorry, but I can’t see a creature so pure of heart and soul as a mere animal, or even a "job", as you called her. I really don’t know how you all manage to handle it." I asked in a bit of rage.
"We all knew this might happen, Dr Muntz, but the rules are clear..." he answered.
"Can’t you even try to grasp the meaning of this? Don’t you even care for her suffering!? SHE HAS THE BLOOD OF YOUR DAUGHTER, AMBER, FOR CHRIST SAKE!!" The rage blinded me. I can’t believe I could've said such a thing to Dr Fuji. Perhaps I felt so trapped...I knew I wasn't convincing him, so, in a desperate move, I went with those terrible words...
And he didn’t like it at all.
"ENOUGH! DONT YOU DARE TO BRING MY DAUGHTER INTO THIS MESS OF YOURS!!" he snapped.
I stood quiet...He was right. That was a very wrong thing for me to say.
His eyes were burning in anger.
But he eventually calmed down.
"*Sigh* I see that I was wrong in letting you handle the situation. But I can't allow this to go on...You are dismissed from the entire project." He said as he cooled down.
"No need of...I quit. I've had enough of this." I responded.
The two other men approached us...
And then, it happened. Some sort of mysterious, echoed voice was heard in the entire room.
"LEAVE...US...ALONE!"
I started to feel N°9 less and less heavy.
"What!?" every man in the room said in unison.
9 started to float, enveloped in some sort of turquoise aura...She dropped the blanket it was covering her, revealing her damaged body.
“LEAAAAAAAAAAAAVEEEE!” she bellowed.
Immediately, a strong gust of wind was blowing in all the room. She sent Fuji flying and the other two doctors against a wall.
But the "wind" somehow wasn’t affecting me at all. Not even my clothes were moving!
Was that even wind?
What was this mysterious power? Her abilities were beyond any logic.
But her eyes, glowing turquoise...oh god...she had the eyes of a demon, burning like a thousand suns.
I've never seen her with that intense anger in her eyes before, and I was scared to death.
"9! What are you doing!? PLEASE STOP IT!!" I implored. "DONT DO THIS!"
She wouldn’t listen.
"I BEG YOU 9! IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE FOR YOU!"
But the wind started to abate. She was feeling weak, and unable to keep floating.
She then looked at me, with those sad eyes...
That echoed voice again in my head...It was her.
B...Brian...I’m...Sorry...I can help...you...no more
She fought with all her heart, but her body wasn't responding anymore.
She fell straight to the floor, fainted.
The way 9 hit the floor stopped my heart for a second. I feared the worst.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!,”
I immediately ran to her.
At the exact moment, four other people came in, equipped with some sort of electric guns. They were aiming at 9.
I jumped and placed myself right over her weakened body.
"Please don’t! Don’t hurt her...I...I..."
I just gave up.
I had no strength left to fight in any kind of way.
My entire will was gone.
So I hugged her, lying on the floor with her, crying like a child, and waiting for the worst.
That’s when I felt a hand in my shoulder.
It was Dr Fuji.
"It’s over, Brian." He said in concern.
He helped me to get up.
"Please don’t...don’t hurt her...please. I beg you." I begged.
Dr Fuji smiled to me.
"We won’t." he said calmly.
The two men in radioactive suits lifted 9's body and proceeded to place her on her test tube.
Her vitals where faint, but stable, She was still alive.
Fuji took me to a side of the room, while the other scientists where working.
"Brian, are a very good man, passionate, and with a great heart. I can't let a person as good as you go through all this again. You need to leave this place."
Dr Fuji was not a heartless man after all. Behind the scientific oath, behind the "rules" lied a very kind human being.
"Go home, Brian." He continued.
"Start a new life. Find your soul mate, and begin a life together, You shouldn't waste your life as a scientist, because you clearly don’t belong in this area."
He smiled at me, like a friend, and not as boss would do.
I felt different inside. It was like if someone showed me the light for the first time in years.
Perhaps science wasn't really my field, after all.
"Unfortunately for us, Brian, we were hired by a terrible organization, such as Team Rocket. We can't do any other thing than to follow orders, or we might never see our families again. That is why I can't grant you your wish of letting 9 to leave this world in peace." He said to me.
I never stopped to think about the families of the rest of the team for a second.
If something would have gone wrong because of my fault, who knows what Team Rocket would have done to all of them, Or to their families.
I felt so guilty...
"Please understand, we must keep 9 alive...But, I'll promise you something." He continued.
He now had my attention.
"Listen carefully. See the container one of the doctors is holding?" he mentioned as my gaze shifted.
He was talking about the "tank" one of them was carrying when they entered the room.
"It contains a cocktail of drugs to stop N°9's cells from deteriorating. We worked on it for about 2 weeks now" he inquired.
I felt like a fool...
The night of the incident, I asked Dr Fuji to be left out of whatever decisions or plans were made towards 9...
That’s why I never found out they were developing this drug!
If only I could've been stronger, and instead stay and help her...Maybe I would've helped them to develop this drug faster, and stop N°9 to deteriorate any further!
Perhaps even fix her!
I was an idiot!
"That container is connected to the main power source of this facility, and will regularly pump the drugs into her system. Now, to avoid her from suffer emotionally, we will put her in a drug-induced coma, and keep her alive, as we were ordered to, when this whole project is over, and if we can't find a way to fix her body and this anomaly...then I’ll help her to leave this world, peacefully." He finished.
I agreed.
She couldn't live in that state in any possible way, let alone being conscious the whole time.
I asked him, with difficulty to speak.
"May...I...Say goodbye?"
He smiled again, placed his hand on my shoulder, and guided me.
I stood in front of 9's test tube.
She looked different now...like she was sleeping peacefully.
Was this an effect of the drugs too?
I felt this peace of her in my own heart.
"9...I’m sorry, but...I can’t help you anymore. I...I have to go for now. But...Dr Fuji will take care of you. He promised me"
I noticed her mouth trembled a little...she could hear me.
I was completely crushed...Who knew if I would be granted to see her again?
So I said goodbye for the last time.
Once again, I burst in tears.
"I...you...you were a daughter to me, I'll...never forget...the moments we spent together"
I took a step back...
"No...You ARE my daughter"
Another step...
"I love you, 9"
I turned around, and left the room....
Tomorrow night I’m leaving,
Dr Fuji had a hard time convincing the Rocket executive, in charge of watching over this whole project, that I wasn't going to reveal anything related to this project to the world.
Eventually, he gave us the "green lights".
A helicopter will take me out of the island.
I heard that Project 10 is going great!
The newborn is very healthy, and not only responds to every stimulation, but also seems to have some sort of Psychic connection with "AI", the new attempt of Dr Fuji to be with his daughter once again.
I wish him the best of luck with this.
I'll leave these notes, together with N°9's project file.
I feel it gives some kind of humanity and meaning to this file.
So if you found this, and I never returned to this place...then 9 is probably gone.
Now you know that deep, underground, hidden from the world and in the middle of the darkness was born a light of hope for this tired person.
A very healthy, playful child, incapable of feeling hate, resentment, greed...our worst feelings as intelligent beings,
But also a very powerful entity,
The perfect creature, both for combat, or relation,
And my daughter,.
And I will come back for her.
Dr Brian Muntz.

Finally, I get to continue the story... now I just need to think of where to start
