Description Sup guys. I decided to be a female Captain James Tiberius Kirk, because I love Star Trek TOS. It is my life. It actually is. I actually cry over certain episodes even though all of them are cheesy and made in 1966 -screams- City on the Edge of Forever, anyone?

Anyway, I"ve never spent so much time and money on any other cosplay. I probably spent about $300 on everything, and spent hours making four of these dresses.

Anyway, hope you guys like c:

In which comic did a female JTK appear? I'd like to take a look at it. (Hopefully, it's still in print in a collection somewhere. )

But yeah, Janice Lester was a bit of a jerk. I can see why you'd want to avoid association.

I don't actually recall off the top of my head, but I can try and find a screenshot of what she looks like somewhere?

She's a bitch.

Thank you.

The frustrating thing about this is that it raises more questions than it answers. For one thing, who published this, and when?

In any case, girl Kirk is cute. I can see where she inspires your cosplay.

And yeah, she's adorable

I have a list of like.. my top 30 eps XDDD. Baww thank you ;o;, I see your group found some great velour type in the right blue!! I couldn't find the velour I can only imagine you must have dreamt of velour websites with the search (for spock) you undertook. I can't wait to see you do Mirror Mirror versions!! stay excellent~!!

Emmaliene In reply to TechnoRanma [2013-04-26 07:18:48 +0000 UTC]

Oh god, so do I. My friend who's becoming interested in Star Trek slowly asked me for a list of my most recommended TOS episodes, expecting like.. eight or so. I gave her thirty four.

And yes! It took us forever to find it though, QnQ We ended up buying velour commonly used for drama studios, but after washing it and using some softener, it proved very comfortable

Next year I'm thinking I'll do Mirror!Kirk for sure. I'm 100% set on being the female Romulan Commander from The Enterprise Incident though

Wow, you did an AMAZING job making a screen-accurate TOS uniform. Looks fantastic!

And considering that Ben Finney named his daughter "Jamie" after his good friend James Kirk ("Court Martial"), I'd say it's safe to say that the female version of his name would be "Jamie."

And I've definitely been leaning towards "Jamie" in terms of potential fem names.. especially due to the Court Martial reference

Neville6000 In reply to archangel72367 [2014-02-13 18:51:35 +0000 UTC]

There's no guarantee that what they'll come up with for Star Trek would be any better, or any more praised by fandom (especially anything by and from Michael Bay.) You're just pissed that Abrams got the gig and is more successful than ever in the eyes of everybody who's a Trek fan and also of those who aren't (the REAL people who mater, since they make up most of the box-office grosses.)

People like you love to think that Star Trek was this cerebral sci-fi franchise, but it's just as action-packed as any other franchise, and has been since the original TV show. The movies have been the same as the TV show-with some notable diversions:

(TMP-The Motion Picture) (TWOK-The Wrath Of Khan) (TSFS-The Search For Spock) (TVH-The Voyage Home) (TFF-The Final Frontier) (TUC-The Undiscovered Country) (GEN-[Star Trek] Generations) (FC-[Star Trek] : First Contact) (INS-[Star Trek] Insurrection) (NEM-[Star Trek] Nemesis)

TMP) Somewhat cerebral. Mostly a 2001 knockoff. Illia in a ridiculously short skirt.
TWOK)Β Revenge. Explosions. Getting old. KHAAAAAAAN! A FUCK TON ofΒ Pew!Pew!
TSFS) GE-NE-SIS?! Kirk's son killed. Get out! Get out of there! Lots ofΒ Pew!Pew!
TVH) They are not the hell your whales. One damn minute, Admiral.
TFF) Three boobed cat stripper. Sha-ka-ree. Lots ofΒ Pew!Pew!
TUC) Racism. Cold War. Shakespeare. Lots ofΒ Pew!Pew!
GEN) Fantasy land. Duras Sisters. Enterprise go Boom. Lots ofΒ Pew!Pew!
FC)Β BOOM! Sweaty Borg. Sexual healing. Drunks. A METRIC FUCK TON ofΒ Pew!Pew!Β
INS) Face lift. Forced relocation. F. Murray Abraham on a couch. Lots of poorly pacedΒ Pew!Pew!
NEM) Dune buggy. Mentally deficient android. Slowly moving doom device. Lots of randomΒ Pew!Pew!

(I have highlighted two of the most popular pre-JJ Star Trek movies in the fandom.)
Star Trek was an action franchise from the fist pilot episode onward and the second movie. To suggest otherwise is to completely ignore everything beyondΒ The Motion Picture.

As well, and as one wise person said, Star Trek is not a charity for nerds; it has to make money as a franchise for its owners, or it becomes a liability for its owners and becomes disregarded by said owners and not revived. Please stop drinking from Gene Roddenberry's Kool-Aid that heΒ allowedΒ to be spewed about himself and about Star Trek in his laterΒ years, and see reality.

"People like you "Β  You assume waaay too much about my character.Β  Just because I don't agree with you (on the general topic).Β  I am NOT a JJ Hater.Β  I really love what he has done in television. (Person of Interest is my current favorite TV show). Β  But when he says he is RE DOING something, I expect something new.Β  Not a badly redressed rewrite, (with still too much lenseflare). i.e. Into Darkness.

And I still say the fans are what kept the franchise alive.Β Β  I happen to have been alive between the Original Series cancellation and The first Motion Picture...and it was still alive and well in fandom.Β

That's very sweet of you to say! I actually have quite a problem with the new movies, but I won't get into it... I'd end up ranting for days. I'll still see the new movie, of course, but it just won't be enjoyable.. I saw one of the recent clips released though, and it seemed slightly reminiscent of the new show ever so slightly. As in the dynamic of the crew seemed closer to how it was in the original series. Probably just a fluke though :I

And you're a swell Klingon ^^

I'm actually going to be the Romulan Commander from "The Enterprise Incident," next year, and I'm considering doing a fem version of the Mirrorverse Kirk

I recall an episode in which Kirk was forcibly body switched with a woman who wanted to exact revenge upon him. She took his ship over, trying to act like him when she was in his body; but you could never fool Kirk's top officers for long.
